I have a Renault kangoo, I didn't have a clue where the adjustment was hidden until I watched your video, it's in the same place behind a four bolt heat shield . Thank you .

thanks needed to adjust mine but I thought I'd have to take out the centre console instead of going under the car really helpful
@KomradeShotabollokov8 жыл бұрын
Yes it's quite an easy adjustment, overall. Would've been easier without having to remove the heat shield though...

Transmission tunnel? In a front wheel drive?
@KomradeShotabollokov Жыл бұрын
Well, old terms still in common use are hard to forget. There is no such thing as car tax (it's VED, of course) but people still call it that. So, yes, exhaust tunnel might be better for a FWD car.
@jimbo992 Жыл бұрын
@@KomradeShotabollokov it’s not an old term though, plenty of RWD cars with transmission tunnels 😂
@KomradeShotabollokov Жыл бұрын
Oh, and AWD cars with on-demand drive to the rear wheels too. But do you think RWD is as common as it once was? Which drive type do you think makes up most of the vehicles you see day to day on the road? The default for cheap small cars used to be RWD ( I have a Minor and an A40 in the family) but is this still the case?
@jimbo992 Жыл бұрын
@@KomradeShotabollokov I’m not trying to bust your balls, just strange to hear the term used on a FWD car 😀. There are still lots of RWD cars on the road, 2 of my 3 cars are RWD 🤷🏼♂️. Transmission tunnel is what it says, a tunnel to accommodate a drive shaft.
@KomradeShotabollokov Жыл бұрын
No worries, like I said just a previosuly common term used off-the-cuff but technically wrong on this car and the majority of cars on the road today.

Self adjusting mechanism. stucks generally. And doesn't self adjust brake pads' distance. You are adjusting the cable but you need to adjust pads. When you do that handbrake adjusts automatically too.
@bousanR Жыл бұрын
Why this self adjusting mechanism stucks? Whst it is possible to do to fix it?
@jimcricket76796 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, great video very in depth. I have an issue at the moment. My issue is the linkage bar that holds the cable bracket, when attempting to tighten the adjuster nut the bar seems to turn along with the rotation of the nut do you have a method of perhaps securing the bar whilst trying to adjust the nut. Thanks
@KomradeShotabollokov6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, it sounds like the nut has rusted onto the bar over time. I would probably try to hold the bar in one hand with pliers of mole grips, then with the other hand tighten the adjusting nut to break the rust seal.
@jimcricket76796 жыл бұрын
Komrade Shotabollokov Great thanks, I was already trying with a set of mole grips but wondered if you had any other idea's but yeah I'll soak it in wd-40 for a little while and try in a bit! Thanks very much again man, great help!

Great vid again mate. The handbrake is getting a bit high on my Kangoo so may well have a go at mine now that you have shown me how. Any chance you could change the oil cooler as I have to do mine. Only joking would not wish that on anybody!!!
@KomradeShotabollokov7 жыл бұрын
I don't know if my car has an oil cooler (I'm not sure how different the 1.5 dCi is between a Kangoo and a Clio) but I don't have any plans to look at it if it isn't causing me trouble! I will probably be removing my EGR and cleaning it soon though: I think it's causing the EML light to come on intermittantly.
@skippyglen66107 жыл бұрын
Well it was worth a try!! Good luck with the EGR valve done mine a couple of times now and its not that bad once its out of the sleeve, would not bother with the oven cleaner trick, I found paraffin worked ok but you will need a lots of gloves and overalls !!!!
@KomradeShotabollokov7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm sure it's bloody messy and I want to keep as much of that carcinogenic soot off me as possible! It'll give me a chance to assess the state of my turbo oil seals too by guaging how much oil is in the EGR.

Not only under the car but behind the exhaust heat shield too... Far from ideal.

Renault are horrible my son has a clio, daughter has a citroen C2, Citroen seems overall much better thought out and engineered. So much easier to maintain.
@KomradeShotabollokov5 жыл бұрын
I've had various PSA vehicles and almost universally enjoy working on them. Most things on the Renault don't annoy me but some things could definitely be better thought out, I agree.
