Hi, i have a problem with the same chip. When I plug out the dashboard (or when I disconnect the battery) if I don't warm up the chip the dashboard won't start. What did you do? I found a used dashboard+rpm count (mine is broken) for 57 Euros, do you suggest to buy them? Thank you very much.

hi, so far I did not do anything, because the car runs without this feature .. even if it is unpleasant. In the forum I found that the chip can be read and programmed into the new. We'll see what to do. BR

Milan Paseka hey thank you! I discovered that the processor suffer the cold, so I must heat it with a heat gun before connecting the dashboard (it must be hot) when I disconnect the battery so the dashboard will start fine and goes strong until I disconnect the battery again, otherwise it won't start. Hahah strange! luckily I don't change battery everyday. bye!

Hi, I have changed my digital dash,with second hand unit,but unfortunately the central locking decoder is inside the unit, I think it's the small left hand motherboard,which is attached to the bigger one with a ribbon,do you know how to disconnect this,or if its possible to remove just this part & fit in the replacement unit,so my central locking will work again? Another problem I have is the temperature gauge just flashes 1 bar all the time! Did on old unit as well! Any idea,s wouldbe appreciated

+Mary Carmon I have a 1998 Espace 2.2dt. (AKA as the Espace MK3) The dashboard needs attention but nay-sayers claim that removing the dash kills the car. Not on mine it doesn't as there are two separate modules or black boxes. The car will still lock and unlock OK and the engine will run. The alarm will also sound if the car is locked with the tailgate open. This suggests that another dashboard from a scrap car might work but of course the odometer reading would be incorrect. Whilst the dashboard is out it is a good idea to replace ALL the bulbs whether they need it or not. The tiny "grain of wheat" bulbs are not easy to get but the bigger ones that are the size of a pea are quite common. One can always use a sat-nav to measure ones speed and avoid fines but this is not strictly legal as it won't work in tunnels. Repair tips (1) Buy a tin of biscuits and eat the biscuits to get the tin. This can then be used to store the screws and any other small parts! (2) Examine the printed circuit with a magnifying glass looking for "dry-joints". If dry joints are found they can be re-soldered preferably with 60-38 solder that contains a trace of silver (2%) The silver inhibits "Tin Pest" and other bad habits that solder can exhibit. (3) Getting the semiconductors can be difficult so if soldering doesn't cure the problem it might be easier to post the dash to a specialist repair shop. My dash has been squealing and ticking and such noises are invariably the swan-song of a dying switched-mode-power-supply. Good luck!

Hahah strange! luckily I don't change battery everyday. I bought a second hand dashboard from a scrappy time ago for emergencies but I'm not using it everyday because central locking infos are stored on the mcu. (when i exchanged dashboards the odometer changed from 200k kms to 60k kms 😂 and it has been stored on the bcu)

Tech Davey moreover I replaced light bulbs with 5730 led strips, and tiny bulbs with 5050 leds. awesome result and I won't have to worry about broken lamps!

Milan Paseka please do you have any idea why the car stops suddenly whie driving ? because i have renault espace 3 too.
