Got mine eight weeks ago. So far I really like it. I‘m in Germany, so got the bigger centre screen, which is awesome. Google Maps comes with a special ev trip calculator that will automatically include stops for charging and tells you everything you need to know, too, like with what soc you will arrive at your charging station, how long you will have to charge in order to reach the next stop etc. The rear view mirror actually doubles as a screen for a rear view camera which solves the issue with the small rear window. Thanks for your additions. I think it’s great car from Renault. With ICE cars I preferred German (sub)brands because of their styling and engineering qualities. But with EVs Renault strikes a good balance in still interesting but more refined timeless design, and probably their quality will be better than some of their horrible reliability issues in the past with ICE drivetrains and motor electrics (partly because their system is heavily based on Nissans technology who have great EV reliability and development history). However the high loading height with omission of a false floor is a deal breaker for me. It only needed to cost like 300 euro to fit a false floor and some mounting points to give it a more efficient, better organisable and more ergonomic trunk, and an easy flat load area with seats folded. I use it a lot in my current car. Hopefully they will add in a mid cycle refresh. And throw in a passenger seat handle as well.

I’ve ordered one. I only wanted a hatchback rather than a crossover or SUV so smaller size suits me. Arguably the Cupra Born is a better all round car, especially if you are carrying teenage children or young adults as rear seat passengers. Cabin a bit gloomy but quality higher than in the Born. The Google Infotainment system is light years ahead of the VW group set up. I felt a stronger emotional attachment to the Megane than the Born. Neither the Megane nor the Born felt as fun to drive as my current BMW i3 nor as fast despite the i3 motor being nearly 50 bhp down on power - all down to the much higher weight of the Renault and Cupra. TBH at prices knocking on £40k it is difficult to make a case for the Megane unless you do a reasonably high mileage, can save a sizeable BiK tax bill and you can charge cheaply overnight or at work. Renault have done a very good job.

We had a megane scenic, years ago. The killer feature was that the central seat in the rear could come forward of the outer seats, and it had a roof-mounted inertial reel belt. I've had my Iconic in White with Black roof for 7weeks now. I've driven it on long journeys, and when driven carefully on Eco, I get between 280-302 miles range (although don't go above 57-59mph😉). What really helps is that, unlike almost every other EV, the Megane doesn't affect it's range when the blowers/heaters are on, as the power doesn't come out of the EV batteries. It comes out of the car's normal 12v battery (like it does on a ICE car). Only the AC does. But don't forget, the Megane is one of the lightest EV's on sale (lighter than a Zoe). Helped by aluminum and Carbon Fibre construction. Only the Mini and Fiat 500 are lighter. Plus don't care anout rear visability. It has a wide-angle rear view mirror camera....Brilliant!! Plus Google is fantastic! You cannot beat phone tech! It's the most up-to-date around, constantly updated.

@@rahimbigsmoke Yes, don't worry about the miles shown on the display, it's not accurate. Go by the percentage, a much better indicator. Having tried both the Megane and the MG4 , although the MG drives equally well, the Megane wins hands down for me. Why do so many people think cheaper is better? Not surprisingly "one glove does not fit all", if it did their would only be one make and model of each size ice car. Strange as it may seem I like to have a choice. I am looking for an ev that can tow, not mentioned in your test. The MG can only tow 500kg, what's the point in that? A minimum of 750kg is essential, the Megan's capability is 900kg. Other than that, for safety reasons the MG is only a 4 seater, no centre head rest, shocking! Presumably to give visibility through the rear windscreen, although this will soon be lost because of the lack of rear wiper, also not mentioned.

Honestly, 3 out of the 5 cool things on this one are really irrelevant. The ridge on the door handle is groundbreaking though. More carmakers should do that.

12:12 Matt you gotta take that stock screen protector off your fold - you won't do any damage if you remove it but if you leave it on while it's bubbling like that you'll make it way more likely that the screen breaks.

I've had the Renault scenic 2018 model. Never again would i think buying a Renault: mechanical issues galore... Electrical issues... Sold it after 3 years of troubles, car was 15 times at two different Renault dealers. Customer support lacking aknowledging the problems...

Another great review. Giving us two recommendations at the end based on different needs is a good idea. My current pet peeve.... Why do so many quite nice smaller E-cars NOT have electrically operated hatches? This is very frustrating. I and my family members are simply used to being able to get the liftgate up with no effort and thus having the flexibility of having full arms. Plus, having to use strength to pull it down again is a no-go for my wife, who has had carpal tunnel operations and has weak hands.

It looks good but the design confuses me. It looks more like a crossover suv than the usual hatch that I thought a Megane was

The styling is good apart from the tiny rear window and the silly non practical door handles and the fabric seats!....but main complaint i keep seeing in comments from owners is the range is no where near the WLTP quoted. Was hoping the recent Megane e-tech 2025 revision would have had a battery increase but no such luck. Also on the forums, FB groups new MY25 owners still reporting the alarm issue which is unbelievable Renault still have not got to grips with this and fixed the issue permanently.

Yeah Renault really dropped the ball in the mid 90's and started making shiit unreliable cars. Tbey passed that disease onto nissan when they took them over in 1998 and nissan has been shiit too since. Shame as i owned a great 1986 R5 and a 1991 Clio. Havnt looked at Renault since... Lets see how the electrics go on these new ones

Such a shame that the uk version has much less features than the EU The UK top spec version doesn’t have self parking, ambient light only in the door panels, no electric adjustment for seats, much smaller infotainment screen.. Yet still paying over £40k for it

Sometimes it feels like these things get engendered & designed without people ever sitting in the things or using them; crap rear seats, 3 stalks on the right one on the left, no frunk, crap visibility 😐 Create a car packaged around the person AND how they use it, then engineer/design around that. Those types of people will love the challenge. We have VR now for rapid prototyping and testing! Frunk = storage for your cable when your boot is full of crap. Be able to see all around the car = safety/ease-of-use

From £35000 for the base model to £41000 for the launch addition😫 For a basic small hatchback the price is a joke. Welcome to the world of electric vehicles for the masses.

Great revue & lovely car. Any idea why the Silver Trim above the Glovebox on right hand drive models does'nt have an Ambient Light Strip as in the EU version? It's a shame that we don't get the EU spec here but I expect it would cost more to buy. A Panoramic Roof would be a nice option too as my last few cars have had this fitted

Nice looking car. However for the price. Not sure about that. I'll stick to my MG4 long range which is around £8k cheaper. Not to mentioned about 7 year warranty, vehicle to load option and 135kw fast charging capabilities.
@ElCeceh2 жыл бұрын
The Megane e-Tech can take 130kW compared to those 135, the only important thing is the charging curve. And with MG you actually choose to buy a Chinese car.
@DariuszTech2 жыл бұрын
@@ElCeceh but you don't mind using your iPhone which is also build in China 😂 Of course I would always pick MG over a French car
@ElCeceh2 жыл бұрын
@@DariuszTech It would be difficult to find a phone built in Europe nowadays anyway, it’s not as if we really have a choice anymore. With the Megane e-Tech you still can support an European industry and its jobs, since it’s built in Douai, France, with more than 400 people working on the assembly lines, and its battery cells are manufactured in Poland at the moment (and will soon be in Douai too). As a french guy, I feel proud we still have this industry bringing us such products, and would choose it over MG cars any day. While this is good for you wallet, it destroys jobs and manufacturing skills, may exploit people regarding working day time or children work, disregard environmental issues… one could say it’s kind of an act of self-harm.
