Renault Scenic E-Tech Range Test at 90, 100 and 130 km/h

We have bought this car and it is good, but almost all reviews of it are saying it's range when driving at high speeds (100-110+ km/h), but at slower speeds it's supposedly quite good (ie. mostly around 80 km/h).

The WLTP range of the car you were driving in not 620km (that is the max claimed range of the car). Glass roof and 20' wheels spec Scenic have 607 km WLTP range. You can expect 2% more range with the Techno Trim and 19' wheels. And the capacity distribution is weird. 4 kWh are hidden above 99%, it should have 0,87 kWh. So your numbers are a bit off. Meaning 458km at 100km/h at 100, 587 at 90, and 352 at 130. Maybe 467, 599, 359km with the Techno Trim.

Usable battery capacity is 87 kWh. Overall capacity is 92. Why are you only getting 85? 352 miles at 90kmh is pretty great, will go longer than a Tesla LR Y in that scenario by a bit. The difference here in the U.K. at least is you can lease one of these for £200 a month less than a Model Y long range per month. It’s also half the price to insure. I’m going to do my own range test shortly, both ways on a near 300 mile run, putting it on eco at 65mph and see how far it goes. This will be on 1 October so we will have to see what the weather is like in Northern England and Scotland where I’m going. Stay tuned….

You have the alpine Edition of the Scenic and wltp is 598km for this one. If you get the iconic with 20" weels the wltp is 610km only the iconic with 19" weels is wltp 625km. Renault doesnt want you to know that but if you read everything on their Website its hidden in the small printed Details on the bottom of the Page

Why are you comparing your numbers to WLTP when you only tested intercity and highway speeds ? The WLTP cycle also includes phases at lower speeds simulating urban and rural driving. It's like comparing apples to oranges. It is clear to everyone that if the average speed is close to 90 km/h, the car will consume more than in the test cycle where the target speeds are lower.

you drive at 134 km/h when the road goes up and 132 when it goes down, why? it necessarily penalizes consumption...

The car is rated at 16.4kW/100km. It cannot reach 14

16.4 includes charging losses, and is a more important figure for operational costs rather than range. 14 is the figure from battery to wheels, and is relevant for range calculation.

Yet again the cheaters use 100% charging with discharge to 0%. This is BS. This style of use is supposed to be occasional or infrequent, so you should not use it as a standard maximum range. Its an NMC battery so 80/10. At 130 km/h the consumption was 26kWh/100km, ie 334km on a 100% charge or 268Km on an 80/10 regime. Not 620km. Effing pathetic. At 120km/h I get 1100km with 44li of diesel from my Mazda 2 D and recharge in 5 mins. Beat that with a Renault Scenic E-Tech. At 100km/h I get 1257km - quite a lot more that the 450Km at 100% charge or 360km on 80/10 from the Renault.

Good boy, but you don't have to explain us how a diesel works, pretty much all of us used to drive petrol or diesel cars don't you know ? And I'm interested by the full range cause on long trips I load up to 100% to start with.

Lmao 🤣 People to this day don't get the concept of different cars for different purposes and that each individual has different needs and conditions. For some folks electric would be way better, for others - diesel, and for others - a big truck with lots of loading space. Your tiny brain can't understand that people who benefit more from EV exist?! I'm still driving an old diesel but my daily driving distance is 80 km total and I live in a house with night cost of electricity 0.8 eur/kWh. Don't you think EV will be better than the diesel in my case? 😂

So before you go around accusing people of having tiny brains, I suggest you stop throwing stones in glass houses. Now re-read and focus on the intended message of the OP. It WAS NOT about usage profiles for different people. It was about the lies and misuse of data to present misleading advertising info and unjustifiable claims. Get a grip ffs.
