This was a great video and shows the full potential of the Renault Zoe ZE50. The range and potential is amazing.

Thanks for an enjoyable and informative video! I have the ZE50 RT Line, but no Boss sound system as I didn't want to lose boot space with the ridiculous base woofer unit. Seems like the Zoe design team took a holiday instead of reconceiving the bass unit. Otherwise, a much improved drive over the 40kw model. Will be interested in your range data, so I have subscribed.(UK).

I have a ZE40 R110 and considering an upgrade. What's your opinion between the ZE50 and the latest Hyundai Ioniq, what would you buy?

Ioniq. Just because of the seats.

4:20 from standstill is physically impossible to have indicated full power, what you have is basically the full constant torque till one specific speed (power=torque x rotational speed). And regarding the speed limitation, it depends. First: the rotor and all the mechanical elements which have to transmit the torque are designed according to a maximum operating speed they have to withstand (centrifugal forces on the rotor parts, bearings, we are talking 10000rpm-12000rpm+). Second, very important: you can go and maintain higher speed (good case study is the Autobahn) only if the electric drive can deliver enough sustained power. 100kW is definitely not a sustained power, is what is called peak power, something that Zoe motor can maintain probably up to 60s (after the system would start derating the power due overheating): it is actually not a problem, as you can see you just need that peak power for short acceleration bursts. For that Zoe the continuos power is the order of 50kW (at an undisclosed speed range, not necessarily up to the maximum speed), which appears roughly the size of that green ECO bar of the power meter.

So, if the consumption numbers we saw are to be trusted, the highway high-speed range is close to 250 km. Still less than 2-hour drive... I could use another 20-25 kWh in the battery to make Zoë a road trip friendly car, but for commuting and day trips, perfect.
@BatteryLife4 жыл бұрын

The early ZE40 was a R90 motor then it increased to the R110 which is still available with the ZE50.

Yes! And I drove the R90. Underpowered. Maybe the R110 is ok as well.

Hmmm... almost 100 km/h through villages? I didn't see any particular speed limits but isn't there a 50 or 60 km/h limit in built-up areas? Ah, you did slow down after the 70 km/h sign. Sped limits in villages are higher than I thought. Is German traffic police as strict with dishing out speeding tickets as I heard?

I would never drive 100 in the city. City was over. Then it is country road speed limit. 100 kmh

Tailgating, over the speed limit most of the time and driving on the left lane with just 145, blocking other drivers. You seem like a very bad driver. Perhaps the camera makes you seem like a crazy bad driver but in reality it isn’t that bad?
