A couple of notes to keep in mind: 1) RTX seems to be a bit more functional so I would recommend using it now if you have the hardware to support it. 2) Mario's face in the UI is still low resolution if you use RT, but if you use Render96 HD B-Side it looks nice and high resolution. 3) Using B-Side has the draw back of a not properly looping skybox for certain levels like the Wing Cap level or Rainbow Road, but if you install both Render96 HD and Render 96 HD B-Side it adds the best of both world and you get a properly upscaled UI as well as a proper skybox.

@@JackAttack64 Yeah, you still get the pixelated Mario face HUD icon. Some other things I've noticed is that stars and 1-Ups look completely flat without any shading or reflections whatsoever, Mario himself looks kinda metallic for some reason, and many objects cast both realistic RT shadows and the vanilla circle shadows at the same time. In my opinion these bugs are worth putting up with given how nice the rest of the game looks (better lighting, water, reflective surfaces, etc) and the ability to run at refresh rates above 60 FPS, but I could totally understand wanting to use OpenGL instead for a cleaner, more vanilla and bug-free experience.

I can confirm that downloading both render96hd and render96hd b-side fixes the pixelated life icon in the rtx build of the game. Great video bye the way before watching this I had no idea what I was doing lol

I had one question - if I were to upgrade my PC someday, would I have to go through all these steps again, or could I just transfer the Render96 build files I made from this tutorial to that new PC? I figure MYSYS2 I'd still need on that newer PC in the C: drive, but besides that, would it be easy to transfer?

Great guide thanks! I had to change the compile speed to slow because like you said, I got an error on normal speed. I did use ray-tracing instead of opengl though and it seems to work nicely.

Hey mate, I followed your video and it worked great. That being said, when I started playing with the in-game options, I changed the Vsync and 60FPS options and the game got crazy fast. I turned these back-off, but the speed problem remained. Tried existing the game, problem is still there. Any way to fix this or do I just make a new one?

I'm curious. Is there any issue with tester_rt64alpha branch if one doesn't use the raytracing and simply uses the default OpenGL renderer? I've played through with the tester_rt64alpha branch and I haven't had any problems. Well, there is a Heave Ho on the first level of Wet Dry World that's missing, but apart from that, everything else is fine. Is there any reason why tester would somehow be better if one ISN'T using raytracing?

I run the game via Render96ex, render API set to RT64, but I can't activate RT (I have the graphics card supporting RT), I don't see an option to activate RT. How do I activate RT?

And when i clicked compile, after some time compiling, a message in Red appeared at the bottom Telling me to scroll back upward to look for error texts. Is it related to me compiling the textures, stages and models with the game at the first time???

Everytime I launch the game now, the Mario head is a model from an earlier version and Mr. I is glitched out and doesn't have a model. Anyway to fix this?

I’m having the weirdest issue: Got the game compiled for Render96 in OpenGL, and everything works except Mario’s A-button jump (standard jump) Mario always performs a jump/kick and barely leaves the ground, tried several different repos/mods and same behavior on each one. Thought it was my rom, tried different UsA rom and same thing. I can’t figure out WTF is going on, but the game is unplayable like that. It’s a damn shame. I made sure I wasn’t using the odyssey move set.
