The Standard material is designed to fall into line with the Autodesk open source Standard Surface, but it is not as fully featured, due to being held to the standard, as the Principled shader, which is the core 3delight uber shader.

render view stays on top, simply tick stay on top from the Window menu.

That was fantastic. Thanks Rohan. I had no idea 3Delight could do all that. The interactivity and deep integration is surprising. My vote is Arnold for the next one :)

@@rohandalvi be warning that arnold GPU has not user attribute support in instancing ! (I reported it to autodesk).

Getting this error - dspy_idisplay: cannot start 'C:/Program Files/3Delight\bin\i-display' application 3DL ERROR D2004: failed to open display driver 'idisplay' (display driver returned '4')

Sorry. It works now. My Avast Anti-Virus was blocking i-display.

3delight SSS is random walk. Haven't checked it for awhile, but they did promise a curvature node. Since you're using attributes, I gather its still missing? Oh yeah, hoping you'll do Renderman too.

I was going to do renderman but they don't have xpu in the non commercial version. That's what I was interested in so no renderman for now😅

nice overview! Do you think you can go over denoising when using 3Delight? It doesn't seem to have a built-in solution, the way most other renderers have.

If it doesn't have an inbuilt denoising tool then the options are kinda limited. You'll need to get neat image for after effects or try something like the AI Denoiser from topaz labs.

I don't get a 3Delight tab at 4:41. Any idea why?

It may be because I get this in the console: This 3Delight package is configured to be used with Houdini 18.5.672. Using it with another version of Houdini (currently, 18.5.596) might result in crashes and other problems.

@@rohandalvi it only invites trouble when the person doing it only uses simplistic non-production use cases for comparisons.

@@lewistaylorFX And production cases requires a lot of work into correctly translating the scene, sometimes you simply can't just copy paste values or render settings as it usually uses different math :D

@@ExacoMvm I don’t agree. Production scenes refer to the geometric complexity. You don’t need to go to the level of advanced instancing, etc in order to have production level scenes to compare things. Math has nothing to do with it.
