Hi I have been asked to re-render a wall that's an external basement wall below the water table. It's an outside wall garden but behind it is ground and the road. It's not feasible to get behind and tank it, can you suggest best approach to re-rendering it. Should I try and water proof it before scratch coat? Or just lime render it and let the water come through naturally. If so are there suitable paints for this? I am inclined to tell the customer that it will always end up cracking eventually because of hydrostatic pressure and not been tanked. thanks

I would suggest scratch coat render with the mesh then paint to coats of tanking then render with lime in it, or just get the bags of top coat render it's easier

Hi mate it's a roll of plastic mesh it stops cracks in the render if there's a chance of movement I suggest using it
