This will be forever one of the sweetest moments of humanity, generosity of spirit and grace. I am not a crier but this moves me to tears and they’re both happy and sad. Musicians are treasures.

Think about it: they pulled this off without rehearsal (as a large group). Such is the love of music and for a man of such enthusiasm and love for life. What a wonderful tribute. Bravo, all. RIP Mr. Gill.

that brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. How wonderful that he lived to see it. So timely that they did this the day before he passed.

The story all the civilians had turned up, yes...but then panicked when a bunch of NSW police vehicles turned up...until the cops who got out all had their instruments with them and joined in. That's why there's police scattered throughout the impromptu orchestra.
