I am so ridiculously excited for Rendmaw. Giving away perma-goaded tokens is probably among my favourite mechanics, and having a commander that can do that just as a byproduct of having built a deck that includes lots of cards of the right type is just absolutely delightful. One card I plan on including in mine is Formless Genesis, also from Duskmourn - being a Kindred Sorcery makes it count as having two card types, having retrace means you can keep on casting it for as long as you have lands in your hand (hi, Life from the Loam!), and the tokens having Changeling means that they *also* count for Coat of Arms and Species Specialist. Great video, thanks for sharing!

Life of the party is one of my favorite cards just because perms goad is hilarious. Made multiple decks with the only goal is to blink/clone him. And now we have a commander that needs less setup. I'm in love.

You can also do that infinite bird combo with Nim Deathmantle instead of the two artifact creatures. Sac Rendmaw and the bird to the Altar, then use the 4 mana to pay for the Deathmantle's trigger. You won't have any birds, though, so make sure you can board wipe or finish off the remaining opponent.

Interesting list. My own version includes Primal Vigor (double those tokens I'm giving away) and uses Evolution Witness + Mazirek (or Sadistic Glee on the witness) + Cauldron Familiar + Desecrated Tomb + Peregrin Took for it's slightly convoluted win-con.

A couple good pieces of tech - thanks. Question/concern: I saw a lot of combo-ish goodstuff with synergy (great) but I didn’t see what I would consider to be a enough density of 2-type creatures to be a critical mass for the game plan. Leaning on Biotransference and/or Mycosynth Lattice, even with good tutors is a precarious position for savvy opponents who are certainly playing Green and/or Blue. I see the shell of a reanimator deck with combo potential…like Meren more than I do this commander.

I like the ideas you have here but I think the deck is a little unfocused, the infinite combo sacrifice plan doesn’t mingle with the lands plan and that doesn’t mingle with the self-mill plan. If you pick one of these as a main plan and maybe add some hints of one of the others it would probably turn out to be a much more focused and powerful list. This video is awesome for “candy land” style brewing, but there is a sore lack of “vegetables” in this deck. This deck has some awesome vegetables available, like “Reap” it’s old but you can pick up a ton of cards from your graveyard at instant speed for 2 mana

Rules question. If I have Liquid Metal torque. Can I target a non artifact permant as it comes in to trigger Rendmaw?
@RollenceChiusinco3 ай бұрын
No - because the Torque can only convert a permanent once it is in play, whereas Rendmaw checks for it's type on the Stack (as it is cast)
@austins73763 ай бұрын
@RollenceChiusinco you might be right but the last part is what throws me off because couldn't you in response of Rendmaw looking at types activate liquid metal Torque because it's an etb? Also there is plenty of effects that "target permanents" before they enter so I didn't know if this would apply?
@quezer03 ай бұрын
As it enters it fails the check so there is no trigger to stack same for garruks uprising
@DrukenReaps3 ай бұрын
Ah nice, I've been using the Myr + Diver combo in decks for years so it is always fun when it actually belongs in the deck and I'm not just forcing it xD Rendmaw looked like a lot of fun but I was worried about the eventual situation of my last opponent having all these goaded crows coming at me now.... This definitely solves that worry with all the aristocrat payoffs.

Feels like nowhere near enough double type cards
@psycalibur42913 ай бұрын
So, while most of this all makes sense... why build mill? I watched the whole video twice. Only thing I can think of is that you're planning on using Braids to sac lands that you can bring back, but that relies on you having braids to sac the lands and then also having a way to bring them back. You'd be building around one specific card in the 99 by doing this. Is there something I'm not seeing?
@decktechsfordecks3 ай бұрын
If you can turn your graveyard into your hand every mill card reads “draw a card” instead of mill a card. It’s super easy to do this here so it feels so free! 😁

Nice deck tech. I think your version of this deck is too focused on getting value off dying crows. You need more dual type cards. You need to make more crows with more cards like Shegeki and Scraptrawler. Too many regular creatures. Too many win more cards. Good otherwise.
@chrisgreen64703 ай бұрын
My thoughts exactly
@gratefulmat172 ай бұрын
I think the focus of the deck is getting early value from the crows with some dual type, and then combo-ing out tons of crows through land or artifact creature sac and recursion. Seems like the most amount of crows can come from the treasure vault sac and recure, and the Altar artifact creature recursion infinite mana loop

I sadly could never pass a turn giving players an infinite amount of creatures on their board. Even if one of those players decides to kill one of the other players, the player who just killed the other player then scoops and allows the last player to untap and kill me with those birds, just out of spite. That's what happens when everyone at your table gets tired of you always winning. 😅

Cloudstone curio + ornithopter + bird token who bounces ornithopter = infinite birds for everyone 🎉
@danielknowles88593 ай бұрын
Not exactly. Rendmaw says "whenever you play a card" which translates to 'cast' when not referring to lands. The bird actually enters before the Ornithopter enters. You need a second 0 drop artifact creature to create another bird to bounce the ornithopter once it is a legal target on the battlefield.
