Renee might not be that good but it's not just the performance that's being considered but also the overall picture. Come to think of it, how many weeks or months did it take for her to master an unfamiliar accent?, how hard is it for a person to be dramatic but humorous at the same time? Her character is natural, interesting and realistic and I think that is what captivated the members of the Academy. She worked hard for that Oscar.

Since seeing all the films these women were nominated for I have to say "Shohreh Aghdashloo should have won!" As great Zellweger and the other nominees were in their performances Aghdashloo was masterful in House of Sand and Fog! As little scene time she had, whenever she'd come on the screen she'd steal the show from Kingsly and Connelly. That's how great and convincing she was. She's one of the most underrated actress in Hollywood!
@celifacejones10 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think the strongest in the category were her and Hunter. Her performance in House of Sand and Fog was absolutely powerful. Hunter's performance in Thirteen was so raw and beautiful. Renee was great, but I feel this Oscar was more about a body of work than this film on its own.
