Hey I know I’m late to the party but I just wanted to say that every one of these non-political videos displays how incredibly witty and funny the writing/editing/delivery is. It was hard and inappropriate to be funny with the political topics but these are like the comedy version of watching a children’s chess coach take a break from teaching classes to seven year olds and play some blitz with another coach.

This Hannibal would *absolutely* know that chicken nuggets were developed by ivy league scientists. In fact, he'd likely stuff you with pink gelatin and submerge your body in a tank of ranch dressing displayed in front of Lowell House with the attached gramophone playing a rendition of Fair Harvard recorded on 78 rpm vinyl just for questioning him.

In defense of all the yearning, I just wanna throw this out there: The series came out in the early to mid half of the 2010s, which, as any period of time for queer media, was a time where writers were either too scared to, or handcuffed from straight up "going there" with queer relationships as the main relationship in a series (same thing happened with The Legend of Korra, where Korra only got to "properly" come out as Bisexual in the last season and actively leave on a camping trip with her love interest Asami to the spirit world). Had the show come out but 4-5 years after it did, not only would there have been a pay-off of Will and Hannibal becoming a couple, but odds are there would probably be a graphic sex scene between the two, set to classical music. Maybe Ode to Joy, but probably not.
@rett_nord5 ай бұрын
To be fair Black Sails came out roughly during the same period, and multiple main characters (including the main main character) are textually queer. Although not being anywhere near the US I admit I have no idea what the deal was/is with network and cable shows there, I guess the latter ones could get away with more?

Your title is better than a title saying "I am Hannibal and ate fast food humans." Fast Food workers are severely underpaid and overworked, so being eaten by the customers would be the second worse thing to happen to them with Time Theft/Wage Theft being worse. At least you can only be eaten once. You can have your wages and time eaten away from every single day while still having to depend on that job to survive.

Hannibal the wealthy sybarite being insufferable - maybe that's the point. That is what conspicuous consumption is, innit? When chasing after that next luxus high, that next opulent, rare, expensive experience - what you're actually doing is eating people. Because that is what being ultra-rich is, that is what indulging in absurd luxus is: Enjoying stuff people died and suffered for just for the sake of it.

legit this made me laugh more than once, i appreciate your commentary on a show i love but also recognize as a bit ridiculous. in my heart, since there weren’t any bodies for will and hannibal going off the cliff, they have the same plot armor so they survived, and they end the series happy bc i want it to be so. also chicken nuggets are the reason i have protein in my diet right now, so i agree that their disparagement is elitist and unwarranted. i’m glad you’re making content that makes you happy :)

I'm all about Indian. Curry is simply the best, but I'm also a wimp. So, when they ask me how spicy I want it I go with the middle. The waiter then asked me if I wanted bread. I asked for a spicy bread. I ate my chicken curry with no problem and reached the end of the meal where it was time to soak up the delicious sauce still clinging to the dish. I did so with great relish and bit off a big piece and that's when things went terribly wrong. By some miracle I was able to keep my composure and the only outward sign of my distress were the tears pouring from my eyes and the tea I was guzzling. My mouth felt like it was on fire, and it hurt just to breathe. I remained in this agony for roughly five minutes. Luckily, the wait staff caught on to my distress and offered me plain bread instead. I accepted. They even asked if I wanted to take home the hot bread. I passed. Now here's my issue. Why would you offer such hot bread which is at least a six on the spicy level to someone who wimped out at three? I still enjoy Indian food and will be going back in the near future, but I will be wary when it comes time to choose the bread. SHAMELESS PLUG "Even This, The Grave Cannot Deny" If you really are interested in a story that has a queer identity but holds itself in some reserve, then you might enjoy this story I've recently finished. It involves two women who grow up surrounded by a non-descript fantasy setting in a patriarchal society that suppresses sexual education. They find each other despite the obstacles and enjoy a fairytale romance that turns into a horror story. As of yet no one has read it and being not part of the queer community I am curious as to whether my text is accurate or merely pandering. If you're interested you can find the novella on Face, Reddit and Wattpad. Thank you.

I haven’t revisited Hannibal since the years when it aired; I’m almost afraid to go back and risk losing what I did absolutely love about it. For a while it was my favorite show! But the more Will seemed helplessly drawn to Hannibal the less I could bear to watch. I just didn’t believe it. Especially after Beverly died. That event was a huge blow to a load-bearing pillar of my love for the series, to begin with. Beverly was my favorite supporting character by far, and her friendship ship with Will was one of my favorite dynamics. She had a way of cutting through his melancholy and self-loathing that was refreshing and so good for him. He was kind of this slippery newborn fawn and she had really good traction lol. From the moment Hannibal killed her AND DISPLAYED HER I could never believe in the idea of Will finding Hannibal somehow hateful but irresistible. Like, could I believe Will wouldn’t be able to put H out of his mind, or that he’d become obsessed with stopping or understanding H to a point where he’d be damaging himself in the process? Yes. Could I believe he’d be plagued with dread that one day his “damaged” psyche might transform him into someone who would ultimately yield to Hannibal? Yes. But like… he legit can’t stop himself from wanting to play happy family with Hannibal and Abigail… because Hannibal is just that handsome of a fish and he has a really nice library and 3-piece suits. I just wasn’t interested in that story. Will was a guy who stopped for every hurt dog he ever saw on the side of the road. WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL YOUR DOGS, WILL?? Hannibal’s class and aesthetics are part of what make him alarming. But he *should* be despised. And I feel like the show itself accidentally lost its mind and fell in love with him. Hannibal was going to let brain fever cook Will alive if it would make him more susceptible. He cut Will’s great good friend up like lunch meat. I’m sorry if it’s bourgeois of me, but that’s just NOT sexy.

Also on my second watching of it I just realized that the whole show is actually like, prime comedy. Hannibal isn't subtle at all with the cannibalism jokes and there are comments and quips made that are given a pause long enough to fit a damn laugh track in. It's a damn hilarious show once you know what's going on.

If food falls out of your wrap while you're eating in the car and it lands on your shirt, then pull over. Using your thumb and forefingers of both hands, pinch your shirt on either side of the fallen morsel, pull taught, lift shirt to mouth, suck morsel directly off shirt fabric. If the food lands in your lap, continue eating until wrap is done. Crumple wrapper with right hand, throw on passenger seat. Continue driving. Use right thumb and top two fingers to scoop saucy morsel from crotch of cargo shorts. Put entire hand in mouth, release morsel, slowly withdraw hand from mouth while slowly sucking to vacuum up maximum slop. Wipe hand on right thigh, use forefinger to spoon up any remaining sauce on crotch.

Hannibal is vibes over plot in the extreme. And while in the average show I would be irked at "queer-baiting," this worked more in the vein of 19th century unspecified desire for the purpose of merging the types of desires. The concretize the relationship between Hannibal and Will would have made it "mere" love, and that would make it weirdly MORE toxic. Because instead of a magical realist poetic space, it would be about real actual murderers being in love. That's no longer interesting (to me).

I think if Will turned to Hannibal and said "I'm queer and I want to have sex with you" and Hannibal said "I'm pan-sexual and I want to have sex with you" it'd be a pretty unfulfilling experience for any audience, cult or otherwise. Of course I'm being facetious with my description, but I think any of version of this could never have measured up to anyone's expectation. I had my wife watch the series, which was a bit of a chore because season 1 is a bit of a "monster of the week" kind of show. I told her that by the end, it would be like watching "Before Sunrise," and "Before Sunset," back-to-back. When she got to the end, she agreed with me, that this show is one of the best romances on TV that was never structured like a traditional romance. That all being said, I agree with the idea that staging this as a romance between characters might have been advantageous, but the final moments releasing a, "I KNEW IT ALL ALONG!" delivers incredible elation. This series wasn't perfect, and I think it could have done with more of the side characters as mentioned in the video (Scott Thompson is a treasure), but, I think this series as a whole was a pretty great meal that could have been accented way better with more purposeful side dishes. I can't tell you how happy I am that this got the spotlight from you. Thank you so much!
