That was very unexpected and interesting. Still not sure why that happened as they typically like to fruit most at the bag interface in filter patch bags.

They do take awhile to grow, but you can notice a tiny change from day to day. They also grow towards your light source, so by rotating the container you can make them grow into interesting shapes.

@@SporeWhore661I think it all depends on where you get yours. I got that size off of Amazon with no clips. I also got the smaller ones from Midwest Grow (I think) and that also did not come with clips. There was another supplier or two that did have the clips though, but fewer sizes and different pricing 🤷‍♀️😊 The small ones are fitting my space and needs beautifully, but they're not very common.

awesome thanks for sharing! what's that sort of white discoloration on some of the antlers near the base? condensation, spores, or mold?
@RenegadeMushrooms
@RenegadeMushrooms Ай бұрын
I've grown them a bazillion times this way and they've always gotten that haze near the bottom. I don't think it's spores or mold. Reishi spores are chocolate brown. My best guess is it's hard water deposits from the misting/ultrasonic humidification but not sure. Our water is pretty hard here.

When I've let them go til they're about maxed out I've gotten them to about 20 inches. These were harvested early in the video because I needed the space. They will continue to grow for months if you let them. Thanks for watching 👊

Did you inoculate the grain spawn with the culture? And did it colonize before you put it in the monotub?

Yes, 5 lbs. of fully colonized grain spawn goes into each tub.

Hi there Can I please ask how long you left the monotub in darkness/covered with the towel before you uncovered it. Many thanks. Ade
@RenegadeMushrooms
@RenegadeMushrooms 29 күн бұрын
With Reishi I leave them that way until they are fully white and colonized and I see antlers starting to form (small protrusions on the surface). This is usually 3 to 4 weeks after inoculation with my strain.
@adrianrose5969

 that’s great thank you I’ve followed exactly what you did and my tub has now fully colonised and is covered with a thick layer of mycelium after about 13/14 days. So I’ll keep an eye out for it pinning and then move to a my warmer grow room with a 12/12 light source if you think that’s wise. Thanks again Ade

I’m a beginner mush-grower, this looks fun. What proportion of oak-fuel pellets? Loving your vidz, love from New Zealand☘️
@RenegadeMushrooms
@RenegadeMushrooms 7 ай бұрын
- 6 lbs. dry oak pellets - 8 lbs. 4 oz. boiling water for pasteurization and hydration, so 14 lbs. 4 oz. total substrate weight. Once the substrate cools to room temp add 5 lbs. of grain spawn. Less spawn would work, but spawning heavy reduces contam risk.

I've been using bear mountain oak for a few months now. Cheap and very effective. Been mixing some wheat bran in to it and running it through a home made steam sterilizer. Do you know how long and at what temp I should run it at? I usually make 5lb blocks and pack 32 in the barrel. Thanks man! Love the videos...
@RenegadeMushrooms
@RenegadeMushrooms 7 ай бұрын
That's awesome you made a homemade steam sterilizer. It depends how high you go with the bran. I routinely use 5% with just my quick in-bag pasteurization method and don't get any contams. If you want to go to 20%, I use a 12 hour extended cooler pasteurization, not sure what the equivalent time would be for your steam sterilizer. Here's my cooler vid for 20% if you haven't seen it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKexpaRmpbusrs0si=7WTvjXNOLaF_Vxtc

Do you think they would grow on any hardwood pellets or do you think Oak is better for Reishi ?
@RenegadeMushrooms
@RenegadeMushrooms 3 ай бұрын
Any hardwood pellets would probably work fine, but they do seem to like oak. Lately I've just been buying the Bear Mountain oak pellets used for pellet grills. They're a little more expensive but not bad.

Thanks for the inspiration and more great tips! I was pondering how to grow a high CO2 loving mushroom like a King Oyster, and I think your method of putting Reishi mushrooms into a tote and spritzing the walls of the tote for humidity with minimal ventilation would work for the King Oysters. What are your thoughts?
@RenegadeMushrooms
@RenegadeMushrooms 7 ай бұрын
Kings need a little more fresh air than Reishi. You can still use the tub, but I recommend having the holes wide open to get air exchange from the room and using a small humidifier to maintain the internal humidity. I show that method in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6inl6BsirOIe7ssi=JS9GXOSNSqw3mcpT

What are the 3 easiest species to grow in a monotub and why?
@RenegadeMushrooms
@RenegadeMushrooms 11 күн бұрын
I haven't tried a lot of species in the monotub yet, but so far King Oyster and Reishi antlers were pretty easy. Any species that isn't super demanding of fresh air exchange usually grows well in a monotub.

Not for me no, if you follow the recipe in the video they basically grow themselves as long as you have good genetics. I highly recommend the Reishi strain from Field & Forest products. LC syringe is around $30. I've had the same culture going for 12 years.

Hi, bro I have a question about organic any mushroom . If we sale our organic produce any mushrooms, we need to approve USDA?? Or not need?? Please
@RenegadeMushrooms
@RenegadeMushrooms 7 ай бұрын
Not sure on that. Last time I checked, if your annual sales were under $5,000 and you follow organic practices, you can call your product organic. Sales over $5,000, you need USDA certification. That was a long time ago though, so the rules may have changed.
