You guys sound like the announcers off of "Pitch Perfect"! Very entertaining! LOL

I was really impressed with the Tu-Chucks (SP?) when they first showed up. It was super badass. But it appears pride took over fun for them, I saw a TON of them getting hit, and they are just staying in the match. If you want to win, win the right way imo.

You will hear that said around a lot of campfires at war the night after every battle, and then sporadically year round when fighters who are not Tuchux want something to complain about.

Renegade Paladin Thats too bad, that must really take a lot of fun out of it for others. Nothing more frustrating than getting a good shot, and the other guy just giving you the finder.

Yeah, we often refer to the 'chux as "Weebles". They wobble, but they don't fall down. I've never liked having them at war.

Love the commentary, makes it feel like its from a sports channel... If only SCA was on that media level...

The event is held every August at Cooper's Lake Campground near Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. Sorry, no spectators; if you come you're expected to participate (which at minimum means dressing in medieval clothing while you do your sightseeing; it doesn't mean you have to fight and in fact several thousand people come that don't). If you want to get on the field you need to be trained and authorized in SCA combat; you can find your local group at sca.org

Now that you've said that, clips from Super Bowl XLII are showing up in the related videos. XD

I'm a total noob but I see a Tu Chuck guy at 3:10 walk off and his shield looks plastic. Is that okay in the SCA?

All depends on the kingdom/event you are at

Question, is it easier to start my own SCA club, or join one? I figured it'd be fun, I've already done full contact steel sparring events with blunted swords etc.

So I saw in one of your comments that this event is hosted in Pennsylvania. What's the biggest event of the year? I heard there's one in Berkley, is it the biggesy? I know thats where the SCA was founded. I'd imagine it would be as hot as hell in armor and in the Califormia heat, though. I have another question, what are some good groups for new players in Houston, TX and the Florida Panhandle/Northwest Florida? I know that part of Florida is close to two kingdoms, but I'm from that area (don't live there anymore, will one day in the distant future) and I haven't located any local groups to that area.

+JaredThinks Pennsic is the biggest annual event. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Society, and the 50 Year celebration might be bigger this year, but it's a one-time thing. Houston lies in the Kingdom of Ansteorra. The Barony of Stargate encompasses most of greater Houston; there are other groups in the suburbs that you might join depending on where in the city you are, and the barony's website links to them on the front page. stargate.ansteorra.org/ The Florida Panhandle is in either Trimaris or Meridies, depending on how far west you are. So you don't have to post on KZbin exactly where you are, I'll just link you to the lookup tool so you can find which group you're in: sca.org/geography/findsca.html Welcome, and good luck! :)

Renegade Paladin Thank you so much! Earlier today, I found the Barony of Stargate on Facebook and joined their group. I am surprised at how many there are in Houston. As for Florida, the Phoenix Glade! I saw them a very long time ago, back in 2007. They gave an armored combat demonstration on Eglin Airforce Base in front of the library. I never knew they were SCA. The other local shires on the Florida panhandle either changed their website URLs or no longer exist, and I think it's probably the latter. Even the airsoft community in the panhandle is gone, and most of the paintball, just for some examples of recreational activities that have come and gone in the area. The Barony of the Stargate has been very nice so far and they've been very active on Facebook. I hope to enjoy time with them for a long while before one day returning to my hometown. I look forward to attending one of the Barony's monthly meetings soon.
