28:53 - No, I think death by brick was pretty fitting for Alex, because literally nothing in the first film gave me the impression he was careful at all. From pulling the knife out of the teacher, to nearly getting killed twice trying to save someone else (and then a third time running from cops), to *getting back on a plane* and flying to Paris despite voicing his concerns at the end of the movie. And it's only when Carter tells him that he's next that it finally clicks in his head that he's fucked...and then he chooses to leave Clear and Carter despite knowing that only an intervention from someone else will keep him alive. Which happens a few seconds later, leading to him just laying there watching Carter get killed without intervening.

The character of Tim was originally supposed to be 7 years old but the filmmakers thought it would be too brutal to kill a small child so the aged him up to 15 .
@ChaosZero10315 жыл бұрын
Which is weird since it's still pretty brutal as it kills maybe at least two 15 year olds, since that Brian kid for the stinger was probably around the same age.
@caseyaulbach76935 жыл бұрын
I understand that 7 would be too young for audiences to handle, but 15 was too old for the type of script this kid had. I think 11-12 would've been far more believable.
@VenathTehN3RD4 жыл бұрын
He was always a bit of an odd character to me, and as soon as I heard he was supposed to be 7 it both made sense and felt like really, really lazy writing. If they're (understandably) not willing to actually make him that young because it's too brutal for audiences and decide to age him up, then they should adjust the script to account for that change. Not just keep the role written for a 7 year old child the same after aging him up to more than double that.

You know a modern Final Destination could work if handled just right. Imagine someone getting killed by a drone accident. Or a smart car. Or a roomba. Or a "hoverboard".
@GentlyUsedFrog5 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure they'd somehow include some VR game working IRL.
@MoostachedSaiyanPrince4 жыл бұрын
Well, it may not be by accident or an "invisible malicious force" like death, but if you want a drone kill, the most recent Leprechaun movie had the Little Shit (James A. Janisse's nickname for him) pilot a drone and decapitate someone wit its propellers. Come to think of it, there's a couple kills in that movie where he goes for manipulating environmental objects to off people over directly killing them.

That log decapitation is my fave kill of the series, even though it was a premonition. It's the kill people I know who have not seen any of the movies have heard of.
@cursedhawkins13055 жыл бұрын
All of the final destinations used practical effects for the kills, however at least in the case of four no matter how practical they tried to make them in production the final product sadly come off as CGI.

I know I’m parroting people when I say that your Dead Meat reactions are excellent and waiting for more is always exciting, but I can’t really think of much else to say considering how the mention of The Butterfly Effect messed me up more than any gore here could! (that film is damn HEAVY)

Personally I think that Nick's issue with using modern technology in horror films is probably the same as most peoples issue with it including myself, it immediately dates and narrows the scope of the horror, whenever you think of the premise you can immediately tell when it's set whereas the best horror films are usually something that you can keep coming back to that has a more broad or less dated premise, like the Final Destination movies are all about someone has a premonition about people dying which saves some of them that death then comes after in elaborate ways, that premise could take place in any time period just like the old universal horror films or 80's slashers, the bare basic premises and ideas that are scary in them are pretty much timeless despite when they were released, whereas modern tech somewhat narrows where you can go with the horror, but like Nate said it can be done well like in the Unfriended movies, but that's just my opinion.

Oh shit, so That is where that elevator scene is from, i only remember seeing that scene on Tv when i was like 9 or 11, so obviously it kinda scared the shit out of me (might be part of the reason why i don't like riding elevators, atleast what started it) and as the people were freaking out, a commercial popped up, in which i changed channel and did not go back to that channel for the rest of the night...i was properly spooked.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Tony Todd's character in these movies really was 'Death' in human form, given how he seems so familiar with Death, it's rules and the basic plot of all these films. (and, if that were the case. then the Final Destination series could be considered a weird Candyman reboot with Tony Todd as the killer again, only he is being a bit more creative in how he kills his victims this time.) But, this is all just theorizing.

At first the movie franchise I thought Nick was referring to was “One Missed Call”, but he mentioned that the franchise he was thinking of had 3 shitty American remakes. One Missed Call thankfully only had one. But the original Japanese films were a trilogy.

Now I understand what a lot of people hated FD2 cause it killed off the OG main protag off screen yea the writers REALLY shouldn’t have done that cause they knew the fans were going to want to see what happened to him after the first movie since Clear came back but she dies at the very end of the movie due to ALSO some apparent crap writing considered by the fans as well….they didn’t like how she was written off of the FD movies….and I get that honestly…the writers of FD2 shouldn’t have never written that for the FD lore smh
