I feel like that should be one of the first 3 things you do when organizing a event so you avoid stuff like this event happening. Then again, I don’t exactly know how their minds worked during the process of it and I never organized anything as big as this, so I’d probably make some mistakes too, but with the value of hindsight, having a ban list should be priority 1, at least 2.

About the part on fanbases: It always makes me curious that the most toxic fanbases are of the shows, games, books, and so on, that were meant to promote acceptance, human decency, good morals, understanding and empathy. The most toxic people are fans of things that promote not being toxic... And the funny thing is, that some of the nicest people I've met, were fans of Heavy Metal.

So firstly you state that it wouldn't be a large false equivilency, and state the overlap between zoophilia and furry communities, and that animals can't consent. Whiles I wont even pretend that such an overlap doesn't exist (because I would be foolish to do so), you are trying to, once again compare the actions of consenting pairs, with pairs where a "partner" cannot consent, its a poor comparison. Zoophilic individuals need to be challenged (or provided mental health assistance), and prevented from preaching that what they are doing is normal or right. Whereas a pair of consenting individuals, as long as they are only engageing in sexual behaviours behind closed doors, do not. Secondly, I am going to provide some context behind the consent issue due to your ever so polite observations made from my arguement. Consent can only be given by a physically and mentally mature individual. A physically and mentally mature individual would be considered an adult. If you look at things from a purely objective point of view whether or not you can have sex with an individual relies purely on consent, whether or not you actually wish to depends on other factors, but consent dictates availability. Thusly, when I say a child cannot consent, it is because an individual who can consent could not be a child, which in the purely objective point of view of making an arguement, is all that needs to be said. Thirdly, your point on being "cool" with racists; much like with the zoophiliacs, racist individuals need to be challenged and prevented from preaching that what they are doing is normal or right. However if an individual keeps their racist veiws behind closed doors, its difficult to do something about it, as metaphorically knocking on their door and verbally lashing them regarding their views, is simply going to be regarded as a personal attack, especially when you are entering their space to do it. What you must instead do is challenge these views when they are raised so as to begin the long, difficult process of changing their mind. People are multi-faceted, someone could be a nice person, but raised in a household where it was normal to be racist, while racism is an inherently bad trait, it does not exclude the possibility of an individual being a good person, even if it makes it significantly harder to be as such. This combined with your final note on degeneracy, outlines an important fact to me however. That for whatever reason you consider the concept of being a furry to be a negative trait, similarly to that of being racist. Whereas I consider being a furry to be an inherently neutral trait, it can be good or bad, depending in the individual and their behavior.

The Internet Historian was wrong about one thing, this WAS a failure of the staff. Any convention, no matter the genre is going to have alcohol, drugs and, partying. And, it's the con staff's job to make sure things don't get out of hand. Unfortunately, Rainfurrest's staff was very much the type you would see in Bar Rescue or Kitchen Nightmares. They wanted to be the cool uncle and not the strict mother. And years of this let's be friends staffing Allowed for the bad behavior to run rampant. In the end, the hotel was just looking for an excuse, and the saboteur had a very easy job.

A good number of conventions usually set a lot of ground rules to prevent this sort of stuff from happening, but from the sound of it, if there were any, they just weren't enforced well at all.

To add to that, furry convention in the country had a blacklist of people that weren't allowed to attend that they shared. Appenrently, rainfurrest didn't take it into account, meaning a sizeable amount of people were going to the only convention from which they weren't banned.

You must have misunderstood the video a bit: it was suspected by that one dude (not a fact) that the same person did SOME of the nastiness. It is absolutely impossible that one person did all this. As a fellow furry, I don't try to speak for the community or advocate for it in any way. If you are going to act like a degenerate, expect for your actions to be brought down and count against you, because your one day of being rotten spoils the day and the reputation of others. The furry try hard to keep a more respectable appearance at the best of times and separate themselves from degeneracy when it arises. I can't speak for every furry in the community, but I can say we aren't that bad, as most of what we're interested in is human by definition, it just looks like an animal. It looks cool and weird, so it peaks our interest. The people who are advocate for rights to have sex with animals are zoophiles plain and simple, they're not furries or at all a part of the community. There is nothing remotely human about animals in any general definition and that's not what we are interested in. Also I know it'll be hard not get flack for satire, reports, or opinions about furries and I apologize if that's happened to you guys, trust me, I know the fandom can be cringe, and I do laugh at the satire towards furries, take in notes on the reports, and understand the opinions. Don't worry about getting upset about what you guys have to say about the community, if there's anything off, I'll keep you informed, if there's anything new, I'd like to know. While most of the fandom is nice and kind, there are a ton of fans who are stuck up and pretentious and pretty much god awful human beings. They going into panels at cons, then take over them and only talk about homestuck. At a local Anime convention this year they deicided to go into the middle of the floor and sit down and talk and then it got weird, when a 12 year old was making out with a 24 year old in the middle of the floor. They all got kicked out of the con. What's wrong with Homestuck? Nothing there's just a bear visible and vocal minority of fans that make the whole look bad. Exactly like Furries and fans of My Little Pony, Sonic, Undertale, Five nights at Freddies, Rick and Morty, even Minecraft was seen as having a cringey fanbase until recently. Course people think it's these fandoms specifically and never mention shit like Harry Potter's smut fics and "My Immortal". Or how the term Mary Sue literally came from a horribly written fan fiction of Star Trek.

I remember that con. Went to it 2 times. It was fun but got dang some take it wayyyyy too far. And i say this as a furry myself. Suffice to say i saw it’s failure coming a mile away.

It's theorized that one saboteur or a small group of them purposefully sabotaged the con so they could ensure that they wouldn't come back again. They could have ripped apart the bathrooms, brought the drugs, smashed the elevator buttons, wreaked the havoc at the pool, and disabled the fire alarms, along with the trash and diapers being thrown around outside. The assault, sexual assault, alcohol poisoning, drug dealing arrest, crinklers and the actual hot boxers were most likely not the saboteurs though.

Outlaw Star / Firefly. I don't know what the disagreement is, but I have a suspicion. I think it's crazy to deny that Firefly draws inspiration from Outlaw Star which predates it in both forms (4 years for the anime, 6 years for the manga). Yes Joss denies ever reading it or watching it or even knowing it existed, but people always tell the truth no matter what, right? Even if he is, as far as he knows, being truthful, there is still a chance he saw some Outlaw Star at some point, didn't realize or remember what it was and unwittingly incorporated ideas from it into Firefly. The whole 'Woman in a Briefcase' thing is the clincher for me. When I saw that in Firefly I immediately sat up in my seat and said "Melfina?" Also, I prefer Outlaw Star to Firefly/Serenity. I like both, but my preference is for Outlaw Star. That probably has a lot to do with it being my second favorite anime of all time, behind Cowboy Bebop.

The shitty part about this, is the fact that most furries are nice. The rain furrest was just the result of several assholes getting in and ruining it for everyone, just like the people in we will not be divided where that one guy sexually harassed someone on cam just to ruin it. People don't care and if it's a big event, coupled with what's arguably the most hated group next to Bronies, it was inevitable that someone(or a group) would come under the guise of a furry to ruin it for shits and giggles.
