Renishaw Probe and ProbeAppV2 for Centroid Acorn

Thank you. The Renishaw hardware wires up the same way the Centroid probes do. You'd have to contact Centroid to see what probing software options are available for CNC 11 though.

Hey Chris I picked up an mi8 for my Renishaw mp3 and was hoping you could give me so help on how you went about wiring it to the acorn board. I found your build thread online and took a look at how you wired it in your enclosure and it seems different from the mi8 diagram I found. Are you pulling 24 volts from the acorn board or a separate 24v supply? I’m confused on what side of the board connects to the acorn inputs as well. Any help greatly appreciated!

Yes, I'm pulling 24V from the Acorn PSU. From my thread on Hobby Machinist: "On the control side I mounted a GX4 connector to provide 24V, GND, probe detected and probe triggered. On the probe side I mounted a DIN5 connector to provide probe +/-, probe detect and GND." @@ChrisAttebery yes sir I read your thread but I’m still confused on how your getting your common to the acorn. I see a common coming from the probe down to the mi8 board and than it appears to be jumped across to the other side of the mi8.

I am still thinking about doing this. I assume the conical part that was in the probe head is for tilt adjustment? How about lateral adjustment to get the stylus perfectly true to the spindle centerline? Thinking about this it seems a bit harder to do than it initially appears on the surface because you need the stylus perfectly true to the spindle.

Right, the conical insert centers the probe onto the shank adapter. The probe head has 4 screws to adjust the centering of the tip. There's a procedure in the MP-3 manual. I was able to get mine down to about .0002" TIR in about 10 minutes. I'll add links to my build threads in the description.
