I can’t remember the quote exactly, but Aizen says something like “maybe the true form of zanpakto is merging with your right arm.” And we see here after learning zabimaru’s full/true name bankai it semi merges with his right arm - pretty neat

Well. Renji and Rukia's training isn't normal. They trained in the Royal Palace, which is legit like the Hyperbolic time chamber from Dragon Ball. They even explained that training in the royal palace is completely different from any training they will ever do. Which explains why Renji is stronger than any low/mid captain level. And Rose and Kensei seem to be at the mid range captain level.

Part 1 of Bleach didn’t do favors for Renji, especially his Bankai being underrated and not defeating anyone even remotely good(fillers don’t count). Canon wise in part 1, it only defeated a fraccion of Grimwjoww But part 2, give him some fair game. The Sternritter are all on par or greater than captain level so Renji was outmatched
