The closed beta of rennsport just added multiplayer racing so I jumped on to test it out and see what this racing simulator is like to play online !

The reason it's slidey is because the TC actually works in reverse, in most sims (1) is the highest TC (I've never understood that tbh) but in Rennsport the higher the number of TC IE:10 is much more TC than a lower number, I tried my hardest to accelerate out of a corner on TC 10, and it was having non of it, I literally, could not make it spin out, now set it @ 3 or 4 , which is what I use in most sims....and i'm driving on ice as soon as I touch the acc coming off the apex of a corner.

If they’re gonna put the track map there on the right you should be able to turn off the rear view mirror underneath it. Especially as you have a rear view window up top. Might help with the frame rate too.

You can turn off non virtual mirrors in options.

GT3 again. I'm so sick of those cars. They are BOOOORING. If I want GT3 I already have ACC or even iRacing. Now let's make another one with GT3 (yes, I know they SAY more types of cars will be featured, we will see, and, in any way, this is what they are using to promote the game).

Agreed. Hell even dear I say “AMS2” has quite improved their GT cars. So we definitely don’t lack options. I think we need a game with an ultimate career mode. I want sim racing AC style physics with a career progression based off offline and online play. Maybe I’m just dreaming AC2 🙏

Really hope this can replace iRacing for me. Being so dated, and having to pay its double dipping payment model in USD with AUD makes the potential of Rennsport very appealing

Watched a few other videos today on this and didn't notice the draw distance as bad as it is here (19:10). Collisions appeared a bit cartoonish. I had kinda expected a new sim would come with a bespoke sim engine not unreal 5. I know Iracings engine dates back to the dinosaurs but for whatever reason having complete control of the underlying architecture sits better with me.

I haven't used a single monitor in a while -- I use VR now, but I've always had excellent results just using the default 120-degree rear-view mirror in iRacing for near-perfect awareness of cars around me without the need for the radar which I always found kind of immersion-breaking. Also, if you are on a single monitor there's no reason to not be using TrackIR for head tracking so you can freely look around (works great for apexes too). I did that before I had VR and it was excellent. 👌

you make some valid points, although i think offering the radar is still a good idea. as being able to have it as an option can lead to safer drivers and better racing overall even if you don't use it personally

@@Davids6994 it is in beta rn, ACC was terribly optimized at one point, not perfect but is better now (although not sure how VR is in it now)

The penalty system in all games including Gran Turismo, you need to invert the code and it will be more fair..

TBH that IS a Rally game, not track racing, and this game is slidey, the throttle control is insane, you could literally break the pit speed limit exiting the pit without touching the throttle, and it makes accelerating out of corners a 50/50 spin off.

OMG what happened to the graphics, they look abysmal.Where's the light and shadow? Do you have to play on low settings to get a decent framerate in MP? edit: I initally skipped to the racing part of the video but after watching the full video i see the reason for the bad graphics.

12:00 I don't agree with you with Iracing's damage model not being accurate. I just watched the 24 Hours of Le Mans and those GT3 cars suffered very similar or worse damage when they hit stuff.

Iracing damage Is not acuret due to the netcode having invisible contacts , the damage amounts then been based on a dice roll and the way damage effects performance being x performance lost and then damage repair being arbitrary times.

Oh God… you really haven’t driven rFactor2 online have you? You can literally drive open wheelers with the wheels intertwined with people in the USA, Brazil and Europe for a whole lap without any netcode issues. Server stability? Yes, you can complain on. Netcode? It’s superb in RFactor 2 and absolutely nothing like what you mentioned…

Yes I have I had RF2 since the beta , Race room still works better than RF2 but yes RF2 is probably second to race room in general.

@@tabs1913 It's really good. You can do proper BTCC style racing. Some cars should feel a bit more "weighty" when there is contact, but typically there is no "car on skates" effect and there is an extremely tangible feeling car/ground contact, depending on the surface.

I don't know why, but I don't like the HUD at all and especialy stuff like the radar puts me off. Everything is cluttered with info. Every sim does the same at this point with a few differences here and there, but there isn't really any sim that has tried to work in a minimalistic way and transport all the info you need through different cues like sound, a proper crew chieff functional pitboards or functional dashes that give you all the info you need. That coutdown at the start is so immersion breaking. There is a startlight dammit. At this point I really want to have a sim that gets rid of all this stuff on screen. ^^

Could be me, but where is the sense of speed ? This is a huge drawback to me, I've been playing games since 1985 and the last 12-14 year, sense of speed has been getting less and less a thing. For me a reason not to invest in games like these anymore. As a former racer, I may be spoiled, but it's something that bothers me a lot.

Genuinely starting to look more and more like ACC. Unreal engine, same problems, shitty shadows, awful looking mirror. Don't know what they're trying to improve.

First of all very little of your stuff is a waste of time. Well early days, even at low graphics all's well. Graphics aren't the most important thing. If it was GT7 would be ruling the scene. But so far gameplay looks fair. Tks for the update again early days. I'm not too interested in the live human vs human racing . The little leagues have totally turned me off. I'm far more interested in the human vs AI. I'm also in Canada were grids are often wanting. Tks again.

Agree, this is going to be the worst sim ever released. Looks horrible, I also expect the worst for VR users. They should not have chosen for UnrealEngine. Missed chance, NEXT.

Is that VRS advertising over the Force feedback and Pedal input gauge ? Not enough advertisement on the tracks and cars. They are going to clutter the GUI with advertisements ? Hope they don't go to far with this cause it would suck balls. And as others have mentionned. I hope they don't abuse the monetisation bullshit.

So far we haven't seen anything new. And as it was pointed out in the beginning of the with the ratings... It's starting to look like a IRacing clone with maybe better graphics. I'm not convinced this will be worth it so far...
