Just freaking amazing..look at those firing patterns...wow!!!

The original Bristol Centaurus in sea furys were sleeve valve. Far as i remember all the Furys racing pretty much converted to R-4350's. Dreadnought has a R-4360 Wasp Major in it. They were easyer/cheaper to get power from and the Centaurus had reliability issues in racing. So unless someone enters a stock Sea Fury, the rest are all converted.

@juzzi07 Super Chief raced with a centaurus, didn't do very well, but I don't think was the faul of the engine. You can tell a 3350 from a Centaurus because on Centaurus, the noise is "all on the exhaust" as on the Wright is a mix of exhaust and valve train clatter...

Simply GREAT POWER... Nothinz better than that... Are there any pictures taken of breathin fire. I´m serchin but findn nothin!

I saw this one win the gold in 06 on sunday. really smooth plane..good speed. much more controllable than a 51 or a bearcat.
@virtualbush15 жыл бұрын
Its likely you are missing a good portion of the firing as I am sure its firing much faster than a video shutter would be able to capture. Which would make it seem as if it were out of sync/missing. Monster Aircraft!

@TheMiseryGuts Fantastic! I hope to see some of these beautys while i can! Theres a chance i may be on a B-17 Flight this weekend! Liberty bell is in my area. Once in a lifetime deal, hope i get to go!

@TheMiseryGuts Lucky You! One thing on my bucket list is to go see these beautiful planes of speed @ Reno someday.... The sleeve valve engines are true engineering marvels. If you find a vid on here of an original Fury or a Bristol freighter or any Sleeve valve radial, they sound fantastic! Smooth and classy! I still favorite a raspy, coughy old poppet valve radial though. One engine i really wished i could hear run is the Napier Sabre, the Tempest and Tiffy are some of my faves!

I was a Merlin fan until I heard that 4 row Super Corsair at the Chino Air Show. It made the Merlins sound like a Chinese lawnmower.

+billville111 Same here :D Previously I loved V12 sound, but now radials are the best sounding engines ever.

Wow, I remember authors talking about those "clear blue flames" in various ww2 fighter aviation books I read. Planes such as Hawker Hurricane were produced with exhaust shields to hide the flames that would otherwise give away the nightfighter's location in the air. This is very cool. 5 stars

I think that is a Bristol Centaurus which is using this aircraft

In the days they tend to run very rich mixtures, just in case.. That's why the flames out of the exhaust. Look @ videos of other radials and you'll notice the same, also with V12 configurations.

New meaning to the term "Firing Order"
@mytmousemalibu14 жыл бұрын
@TheMiseryGuts Thats Awsome! I hope I get too go, fingers crossed! I imagined i'd be awfully loud! 4 big radials and a lot of aluminum and no sound deadning, I have no doubt it would be. My friend has been in a 172 and says its pretty damn bad, and thats a small, slow, little engine plane, but thats how the B-17 needs to be, anything differant would be sacralige :)

when someone gave me a negitive for my comment stating you could see the firing order... i didnt literly mean that, i should have said, its as if... you can see the firing ourder. like supercub said, the engine is revolving too fast, i dont know weither its a frame rate thing.... or...... they make it so flames shoot out in that sequence on perpous for show, which is compleetly possible, you can do that.
