@@SaintShion there are many different ways to have ventilation for a greenhouse, since it was a do it yourself plan( which I love by the way!) I would have maybe used an old window that could open and just frame it in, it also depends on a few things you know? Types of plants growing, location and temperature. Does it snow there? They could be place on the roof or even on one of the walls! They also even make automatic ones and stuff that can be set up in a timer. Now the fan or air circulation is important for a few things. First it simulates wind for plants and seedlings so that they build stronger roots and become “bulkier” or just stronger in general, then it also helps with heat distribution and movement, decreases the chance of fungus and pests, things like that! I hope this helps. I’m a Cobb county master gardener in Georgia, so let me know if you need anything else. You can also contact your local county extension office for any and all other info!

@theoriginalmonstermaker 6 ай бұрын
@@motog4-75 he meant that the angle the roof is on, combined with the thickness of the lumber (since the roof panel is attached on top), makes a gap at the front and back edge of the roof. That should allow quite a bit of heat to escape by convection... but that's a problem in itself if you want the plants to be protected from cold in spring/ fall. Also, regardless of temp, plants need a breeze to shake them and build stem strength, so a fan would be a good addition.

Love it! If it’s still possible, I recommend to try to add way to ventilate the greenhouse, maybe by adding some windows which can open/close, vents in the walls, or maybe even a mechanism to open the roof with! This since it’s best for the plants to have some airflow otherwise it becomes a sauna at some point, it also prevents pests and helps with pollination 🐝

@@susannebrunberg4174 we built a greenhouse last month in our garden. A lot bigger than this. But out foundation is simply 4 earth anchors that you screw down into the ground, and supports a square frame of pressure treated 2×8 that has a tiny bit of ground clearance, then the rest is built on top of that. Super simple and the anchors cost us like $5 per or something, basically nothing. It was a lot easier than casting concrete pillars, and if we want to remove it one day we simply screw them out of the ground.

He used his own labor, tools, and skills, and maybe even the materials in order to bring some Joy to his neighbor and his yard. He did this out of kindness and compassion for someone else. Can you just sit planks in the dirt like that? Won't it rot? What about some cross beams to strengthen the frame up?

If I were going to make a greenhouse I'd use flexible tubing lined with plastic like a half-pipe but this is cute

All non PT lumber, this will rot out and be insect food in a year, especially the sill plate

Careful with this. I have something similar and the roof got so hot there are scorch marks on the roof beams. I am rebuilding using metal framing. I am in Ohio, Reno is probably a lot sunnier - don't let it catch on fire!

It would need a super firm foundation where I live. Canyon winds get pretty crazy around here. It will literally pick up anything that is not tied down or anchored. My neighbors shed was literally picked up from their backyard into my front yard. It was then picked up again hitting my car. Then thrown across the street into my neighbor's car. The winds will pick up trampolines and move them more than a mile away from their original location. I would love a green house though.

Pour a concrete pad installing anchors to secure the four main posts to. Also when laying out the pad situate it so that the back lower portion of the roof faces the promenade wind direction, so the wind flows up and over the roof.

🎉 well done at last a DIY project that hasn't got everyone giving a critique. I'd love one im looking for one my place is on a rocky hill top and I don't want to dig up anything. could I lay cement and then set the foundation on top. No worse then using glue on a LEGO model 😊

I’ve been looking on KZbin how to build a simple greenhouse. I think this is the one that I can build it myself for a 60 yrs old woman, and identify myself as prostrated gardener 😂😂😂😂😂 I’m planning to go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and show this video. Who ever comes up the right material and free cut for me, I’m 👍
