I just set mine up with a 280ah lithium battery and the thing that I didn't like about it was that from default it wanted to charge the battery to 14.7V and then would let it discharge to 12.*V (around 10%) then it would start charging again. This could mean that if I went out to my motorhome when it was at 20% charge, that's all the charge I have until it charges back up. I set my max charge point lower as well (eco-worthy battery calls for less) and then I went in and set minimum voltage higher, so in theory I'm cycling the battery between 70-90%. I haven't been able to verify if my setting are correct yet, need to do some more testing but the standard lithium setting from Renogy is not good for most people who leave the inverter plugged into shore power. Thanks for the video, well made and straight forward. I would like to see what settings you've done for the charge profile, and the reasoning for them (I'm still wrapping my head around all of them)

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I do not use the standard lithium setting. I just do a user defined one and I adjust the charge parameters based on whatever the batteries require. Thanks for watching!

The manual says that the fan will shut off if the charge current drops below 6 amps. Did the fan shut off when your battery was fully charged?

Does this inverter/charger allow for direct dc powering? I heard that the dc to dc charging also can be used to directly power 12v devices?

So long as you have a battery for the unit to “charge” you can connect a DC load and you can run the load at the same time as the charger is “charging” the battery but it’s also powering the load at the same time. Thanks for watching!

Nice vid thank you, I’m about to install the same model inverter on my boat, I will be linking it to my 200ah Renogy lipo battery, what wires would you recommend I use to connect the battery to the inverter? I was going to use 2 awg, what would you recommend?

If you use the on board on off switch or the remote on off switch does that elimate the idle power draw? Lastly does the on off switch only control the inverter (if plugged into shore power with the switch off will it pass through power)?

Hey! Thanks for watching and commenting! Sorry for the delayed response…I actually didn’t know the answers to your questions but I got out and actually filmed another video based on your questions. So be sure not miss that coming out in about 2 weeks! Anyway, yes…the onboard switch or the remote switch will kill all draw from the battery. And no power will pass through if either switch gets turned to the off position. Hope this helps! Thanks again for watching and commenting!

What is the idol currant of the 3000 Watt job that’s what I got but having said that I have not had any idol currant issues yeah

Good data. Interesting that the idle consumption is so much higher than rated. (42 vs 30) I have a Xantrex 900W inverter and it idles at just 5w 5 * 24 = 0.12kwh 42 * 24 = 1.01kwh Pretty big difference. When in power saving it was rated 15W right? Is that mode the same as being turned off? (i.e. a 50w fridge cant even kick on)

Thank you! Pretty amazing how much more efficient small inverters are! So goes to show sometimes bigger isn’t better unless you really need the big power. Yes, when the unit is in power saving mode, if you plug a 49 watt load in, you’ll get nothing out of the inverter. Plug in a 51 watt load and the inverter goes to full power resulting in the extra overhead and power consumption by the inverter. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@theresatrickforthat I have the 3kw on order. May end up running the 900W inverter with the 3kw one reserved for charging the batteries, and high drain stuff like an induction cooktop. Good to know that a draw above 50 will wake it up. Ill have to test it with the mini fridge to see how it behaves. The fan on the 900W unit remains off unless it gets warm, so thats another benifit, esp at night. Was hoping to find a vacuum insulated 1 or 2 gal 12v water heater to add to the setup as well, but all I'm finding are the larger 110v 2.5 gal under sink units that are a foot tall.
