Have you ever considered a way for your DCDC charger to act like a jumper battery for your van in an emergency situation? Right now Renogy DCDC charger can’t charge the starter battery if it were to die during your off grid camping weekend. I’ve been toying around with the idea to make a bypass setup where I can charge my starter battery in this situation if it ever presents itself. Victron and other companies have this feature but we have to a get crafty to make this work on our own.

I have thought about that, there are 12v to 12v chargers you could connect or of course a simple trickle charger from your inverter. Even as rudimentary as jumping across your DC to DC (not during cranking) if I were in an emergency I would make it happen, as far as an integrated solution I haven't had the need yet 🤞

I think the simplest and cheapest would be to connect a regular cheap trickle charger into your inverter and connect via alligator clips to the DC to DC input side. Depending on your van and wiring that may disconnect after the van is shut down for a period.
