Well, between some of Renogy's suggestions, the battery manufacturers suggestions, and some of my own contributions, we have got the Over Voltage Cutoff Error under controll. Basicall I adjusted a few different parameters, but the one that mattered the most was the Over Voltage Disconnect alarm. I raised that value to 14.8. Initialy it was set to 14.4 and had worked flawlessly for months without an issue, charging the battery almost daily to full charge, and then one day the error occured, and then kept occuring with increased frequency, even on overcast and rainy days. The largest dissapointment is really how long it takes Renogy to respond and troubleshoot these situations. That is life I suppose, and I am sure they are super busy. Thanks for checking in ya'll..

@@brianchung2441 it may be that your battery voltage is less than 11v. To be honest, I've never encountered this.

I'm having a similar problem..I have two rover 60s... Both connected to indentical strings of panels.. the new rover I just installed is throwing the same error..even tho the settings between the Rovers are identical .and hooked to the same 24 volt battery bank ...I'll have to try setting the voltage disconnect to higher...it's at 14.4 right now as well

Just curious, your controllers are set at 14.4 volts and charging a 24 volt battery bank?

@@Tool_Shed_Talk rover is set to 24volt...and Type Li (Lithium). All the other settings are default to that type..and match the other controller.....even in user mode..setting can't be adjusted past 17 volts

@@flasha29 gotcha, and interesting that the user options can't be set for greater than 17v. I may take a look at that this weekend as I currently have a 24v system in place from a different manufacturer. It wouldn't be too difficult to reconnect my Rover and run through the settings for 24v, and it would make a good video! Thanks...

@@Tool_Shed_Talk Would love to see your setting for 24 volt with the rover, Renogy has been of no help at this point :(

this is a battery issue not a controller issue the BMS has cut out causing the volts to rush to the controller causing a over voltage Error, Renogy's advice to lower charge voltage was correct.14.8v is very high for Lifepo4. that is why you get an over voltage error, the BMS has cut out, Likely an unbalanced cell in a battery getting to high and triggering the batteries BMS to cut out, or one battery in the bank being higher than the other. Ive installed hundreds of Renogy Controllers. And seeing videos where you Connect to batteries But dont put the charger and Inverter on opposite battery terminals and dont spread the charge and draw over multiple batteries, Id say you have an unbalanced battery bank and you had a battery cut out, Its likely even the reason your inverter Fried it self, drawing too much resistance.

14.8v is the over voltage disconnect. It never sees that voltage at these settings. The inverter smoked a MOSFET. Digging deeper it seems as though this is a problem with Renogy inverters. I won't go into that and why in order to keep the comment succinct. The battery setup is fine.

@@Tool_Shed_Talk Im looking at your Video on the renogy shunt fix, and @ 9.43 I can see your battery bank, you have the posivie and negatives coming in and out off the same battery, that is not fine, you have an unbalanced battery bank, your not spreading the load over all two batteries and you raising the volts over voltage disconnect to stop over voltage didnt fix your issue, you covered the problem with a band aid, you should have setup the battery bank correctly, wired them correctly, and if its not that which is cutting off the BMS, you should have lowered the charge voltage as renogy said. literally the reason for that over voltage error is the BMS on one of the batteries is shutting off. Either because the bank is out of balance due to incorrect wiring, or a cell in one battery has come out of balance. If you cant setup a battery bank correctly for even charge and even discharge, you shouldnt be giving advice. Two videos Ive seen of yours had you setting the bank incorrectly. If I could post a screen shot I would. People are getting bad advice from these videos, Im sure you mean well But your over looking what your doing wrong and pointing to the product. BTW If you are going to put the Inverter on the buss bar at least put the inverter on the same lug as the main power cable to the battery, so it has a direct connection, there is so many problems with that setup that would cause resistance for a high load Component

@@oliviatulloch1358 Thanks for watching my videos, but you are incredibly incorrect regarding Renogy advice, and what parameter I have set at 14.8v. You need to read my comment carefully. With 2x small batteries connected like that for a short time, they are fine, trust me. With more batteries I use a different layout for the long haul. As far as doubling up two lugs on one post of the busbar, that just defeats the purpose of a busbar. It's fine also. You can stick up for Renogy all you want, but their tech support is slow, and their product continues to be glitchy and fail. They have admitted fault on several of their products that I have opened cases with them. It is what it is, and I have no binding agreements or contacts with Renogy. Not to mention I have pictures from other Renogy users that have similar problems, including the MOSFET issue that I have had. My advice is good, and you truly don't understand the nature of my videos. Sorry to disappoint you, but you are incorrect.

@@Tool_Shed_Talk your playing words now, you knew I said Cause Resistance and meant creating resistance. so your misrepresenting what I said and you know it. and you drawing and charging off the same battery in the bank creates a battery bank that is not balanced. its Most noob Mistake some one can make, and you posted that on facebook, on more than one video. renogies customer service isnt great, im not saying they are, but your advice is garbage. you didnt even know the reason for the over voltage issue do you? you think raising the parameter to the point where it no longer triggers is the right course of action lol. you needed to figure out why your batteries BMS was shutting down, either by too high of a charge voltage or an unbalanced bank or cell, Likely from a incorrectly hooked up battery bank. like yours clearly is. If renogy saw a picture of your battery bank installed wrong, they might have said to have fixed that before telling you to lower charge voltage. they made a mistake assuming you had your battery bank installed correctly lol, Dont care what brand it is, if your if your pos and neg draw and charge cables on your battery bank are only only on the same battery in a battery bank, your battery bank is not setup correctly, you can check that out for your self. you keep saying you didnt have it hooked up like that for long, but the videos showing that are months aparts lol
