Renovating a seeded lawn after 6 months is not as scary a task as you think, the roots will be well anchored in the lawn and you should not be worried about doing it, today we scalp, scarify, seed and top dress a lawn we started from scratch last September.

Hi Daniel, thanks for this great content and you always time it so well. I just wanted to let you know that the iron sulpahte from your store worked amazingly turning all the moss in my lawn black and killing it within hours. I left it a week and then used the Steller Bio Boost and Galactic Green and the superb results speak for themselves. I am now waiting for your wetting agent to arrive. I hope this will help with hydrophic areas over the summer. Finding your channel, online store and taking your advice has helped me make informed choices in my garden resulting in a beautiful space that all the family now enjoy. As for the trolls, I always say that every artist should welcome any feedback or comments as it is always better than no feedback. The internet does empower unqualified people to speak on matters they know little about. Just ignore the nonsense as there are a lot of us who greatly appreciate your honesty and wisdom. Keep up the quality work!

Hi Dan, great content as usual. I like the way you do a summarisation at the end of your videos, a quick re-cap on what you've just done...I'd love to gain a further insight with regards to your next choice of treatment, for each video clip...what treatment will you likely use next to further bring the lawn along and make us all keen to buy more of your products?...There's nothing nicer than being prepared, with the right choice of products, knowing that its either being ordered (from you) or even better, in stock or already bought!.. Love watching your clips and I salute you Sir....well done....

You could do but you creating in essence a gluey surface so your seed might stick to the grass ideally you want to seed on to a dry leaf then top dress then h2go if not fleecing or like i do spray the fleece killing two birds and only using one application of product your way is going to be dearer

Hi Dan! Big fan from the States. You just have to ignore the trolls and not look at it as 'abuse.' Ever heard the phrase, 'there's no such thing as bad publicity?' If they're engaging, good or bad, they're engaging. Treat it all like constructive criticism Here's some constructive criticism. I too have often wished you had a better camera just because it can be hard to see the detail of some of what you're doing with the grass. You're fun to watch and listen to. The audio is pretty good and that's the most important of the A/V equation but, it would be nice to see some of the finer detail you're pointing out. Also, iPhones can really suck with light balance and color. They're doing their best but when you're shooting outside under natural light that's constantly variable, it helps to be able to adjust the settings on the fly with a dedicated camera. Personally, I'm a fan of the Cannons with full CMOS sensors. You can get some help from a video editor on Fiverr for cheap to help punch up your color and lighting and learn the tricks of the trade cheap on there. It's where I learned some neat tricks. Hope that helps and keep up the great content!

Hey Dan, I use compost from the garden to top dress. Is that a good thing or not. My compost is a collection of fallen leaves and grass cuttings piled up during the year, turned over to another pile for a second year, and then turned once more to a third pile for use the next year - so over 3 years old by the time I end up using it. But how do I know if it's good for the grass or bad?

@@Linleys get a soil test so you have a baseline, 6.5 is optimal for most cool season grasses but a point or so is fine and more often the case, you can use strips for this also, if you are nearer neutral (7) and your compost is more on the acid side it would actually be pretty beneficial but the other way and it could cause issues.

@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert usually peat moss overseed.most compost is hard chunks that's not fine like your field no.4. Have tried bulk compost and comes with weeds and rocks and not great. One more question I have an old lawn to Reno. Mostly shaded with big trees that have big roots thru lawn. What type of seed you recommend for shady areas.

@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Hi Dan, i overseeded as the ground temperature looked good, but since i did this the ground temperatures have not increased. the lowest is 5 degrees up to 8 degrees. Its rained every day since. Do you think the seed will be ok until the ground temperature rises?

@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Hi Dan, following your videos, and over the past couple off weeks, I have scarified, overseeded, fertalised and top dressed but I haven't had any germination yet. The ground temperatures only reached 8 degrees today. I have been keeping the seed watered. I used Boston shade seed containg 27% amenity perennial ryegrass, 55% strong creeping red fescue, 10% slender creeping red fescue, 5% smooth-stalked meadow grass and 3% highland bent. Question 1, the old grass need a cut, will the new seed be ruined if I mow over the non germinated seed? Question 2. Will the seed I have put down just work once the ground temperature gets better? Thanks in advance

while i didn't like you using peat because of environmental reasons, you can use it all you want if it isn't banned yet. there are far worse things being done environmentally, so I'm not sure why people will focus their enjoy towards that. i also always appreciate YTers calling out trolls.

Hi Daniel, as matter of interest why don't you use a lute for spreading the compost? I purchased one this year and found it incredibly quick to spread evenly compared to a rake. Also, it does a bit of hollow filling to boot.
