God, An album of all of Dave's unreleased demos would be my favorite release of the year. Pure fire. How many demos do you think he has? 40?

I'd say more, he's been at it since he was in his mid teens

As soon as Dave mentioned being into Lush at the time he wrote "Floaty", it made total sense to me and I got happy. "De-Luxe" is one of my favorite songs ever and "Floaty" is my favorite on the 1st FF album. They both have that soothing space-y, ethereal rock sound to them. I can totally hear the influence now!

@boofert.washington24997 жыл бұрын
MemoirsOfAMallCop that's my favorite foo song.
@RastaSaiyaman5 жыл бұрын
Apparently Kurt Cobain loved "Alone and easy target" so much that he actually kissed Dave after the latter let him hear that song. It could have ended up on "In Utero" but Dave insists that Nirvana should be about Kurt's songs, not Dave's. Who am I to argue with that logic?
@Biozeminado5 жыл бұрын
@RastaSaiyaman Additionally, Nirvana jammed on the song during soundchecks while in Europe in '92.

@bigbowlowrong4694 Жыл бұрын
Seriously, they really jump out at you. Tight as hell playing, too - it sounds quantised but it definitely isn’t. The drums on the first album sound muted in comparison to these sessions.
@marktoal9096 Жыл бұрын
Dave looks emotional when Floaty kicks in. Like, “I can’t believe how awesome this sounds.” Second point on the double tracked vocals. That’s exactly what they did with Cobain’s vocals on Nevermind. Probably where he got the idea.

A real tearjerker for me to hear that. The sound and the authenticity of that time. Dave's face when remembering Rent. It is not just nostalgia but a REAL moment of Truth. Thanks for that. Nothing better in Foo Fighters' discography than the first album, full rage and a true catharsis.

I was 12 or so when the first Foos album came out and I remember being so dire to get it. I was always broke and my friends and cousin always would get albums and then rip me off trading for them. I traded a Jerry Stackhouse jersey for this one lol. Floaty always takes me back to then being one of my favorite tracks. When I heard Dave was doing this I cried tears of joy because I was a huge Nirvana fan and the first couple years after Kurt died music was getting weird and there was this empty feeling. I then traded and vintage guitar amp for the Colour and Shape a couple years later. Now that one I still regret. The Stackhouse Jersey got the last laugh on. Worth it all though.

Yeah, exactly the same as on the album. He just rented a 24 track studio, actually to record better quality demos, not to release them as an album. Then when the tape started to move around, the session tapes were remixed, and that was ir. The Foos first album.
