I’ve never been a place where they took the shoes ever. You leave them in lockers or under the benches. I worked the rental counter/repair/sales counters at my local rink and I actually loved it

Crazy hearing the shoe situations. The roller rink where i grew up at you just paid to skate, and you could get either roller blades or roller skates. And they never took the shoes. Just gave the skates. But it makes sense to take the shoes to make sure you get the skates back.

At our roller rink the cool thing is when you put on the skates you get to put your shoes wherever you want in the building so you don’t have to check them in

They should have several drawers with labels that can be erased, written on, and affixed to each drawer and put the name of the person to whom the shoes belong. This would serve to avoid possible confusion.
