Not only do people not understand their rights when it comes to them vs the government (criminal court), but they also seem to misunderstand how the law works when it comes to interpersonal relationships (civil law). I say that because people think they can sue for anything, even their own negligence. Also, one contract has nothing to do with the other, you can't stop paying rent for reasons not outlined in the contract or renters rights laws.

I doubt any board is gonna tell people to basically become squatters and refuse payment of rent over an incident that the plaintive didn't even see happen. Additionally, why is her chihuahua on a 60 ft. lead if she knows she shares the yard with a larger, unchained dog? That's asking for accidents to happen.
