When my family and I went to WDW and Epcot in 1983 my dad told us he had a surprise for us if we could do the rest of WDW in the day we were there. We had gotten a four day pass and only used three days of it. My sister and I got super excited and when we got done with the day at DWD my dad told us we were going to River Country Water Park the next day. Boy were we all excited about that. It was a fun time for me to go there. I was your age when I went to River Country as I was too born in 1974. The only attraction I was able to do was the kiddie slide and enjoyed it so very much. With all the video you post about WDW it brings back memories of my time at the park. Thank you for sharing all the great content on these videos. Keep them coming!

Adam, that "abandoned" cabin was the start of a nature trail that used to be on that part of the lake. I don't think they allow people out there anymore, but there was a trail there years ago. Back when you could swim in the lake.

@Richard Long I do not recall myself swimming in the lake there, probably because I am from Florida and know better. Their swim areas used to be roped off as a designated swim area. At the campgrounds, it used to be the area to the right of the boat launch.

Years ago we have taken a boat out when we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. We went around the area and Disney Springs. Also experienced the pontoon boat when celebrating my son’s 18th and my 60th back watching the Illuminations fireworks at Epcot, which was back in 2019. We left from the Yacht Club hotel for an hour, nice once in a lifetime experience, since it was the last year for Illuminations. Must admit it brought a tear to my eyes, for that reason. Thank you for sharing this area with me, must rent a boat and go around this area.

Years ago, the internal bus went to a location nearby the Hoop-de-Doo building where the guests would transfer to a different bus to go to either MK or the TTC. There was a guard shack along the route to keep non-Disney vehicles from driving on that bus trail. The cabin in the brush looked like that old guard station.

My 1st trip to Disney was in 1974 when I was a junior in HS and our band got invited to perform in the Magic Kingdom and I was a flag twirler in the band. Compared to what Disney had grown into today, in 1974 it could be described as an upscale amusement park. I still have the miniature Disney license plate with my name on it which was my keepsake of that trip.

Adam, thanks for bringing this experience to my (our) attention. My best friend and I went over to Grand Floridian this morning and rented a boat for about an hour and a half. We had an epic time. The views of Cinderella's Castle space mountain and other landmarks are amazing from the in water perspective. Thanks again

With WDW being as busy as it is I bet you most attractions and rides could be over a 2 hour wait time. I know when we went to WDW in 1983 most attractions we went on were well over a two hour wait time but well worth it. So I bet you its the same way on this day as well. And I loved the Electric Light Parade at night. That was a thing of beauty. But I loved everything about our time at WDW. I have done all the parks in my lifetime and enjoyed them all. Best of everything to you both!

Brings back so many memories from about 10 years ago . We travelled from Australia and were in Orlando for about 6 weeks . We hired the pontoon from Bay Lake tower area , the staff when they looked at my licence realised it was birthday . They instantly said just pay for 1/2 hour and you can have it for 2 hours !! how great was that !! It is such an experience to be on the lake with your family , it also makes when you go back into the park soo much better . We were lucky that I bought yearly Premier Passes so to spend some time there didn't take time away from any WDW park time . Don't forget sunscreen ! and enjoy

Awesome day on the lake ! The last time we were there and staying at Wilderness Lodge, the boat captain that was returning us to the lodge, stopped in the middle of Bay Lake for us to view the fireworks. What a memory that we timed just right. Best place to view the fireworks ever💥

Wow it has changed so much. When I was WAY younger we used to layout on that beach. There were no ropes up so you could actually wade in the water there . We always stayed in the Polynesian in THAT building in your film which sits to the right side of the beach there. Room 1601 in the Tuvalu building ground floor I believe it was. The view at night was spectacular as you could see Cinderella's castle right across the lagoon all lit up at night. Also the boat parade with the nightly light show would sail right in front our room at the Tuvalu each night.Also in the background the sound of Hawaiin music filled the air as the nightly Luau is performed towards the left side of that beach. Best room in Disney in my opinion. We used to rent the Aqualarks boats right at that Polynesian marina and traverse the lagoons So many memories.

I would love to do the fireworks cruise too, but don't have enough people to put together to be able to break down the cost to be more inexpensive. One of the boats that docks at the Magic Kingdom entrance takes you to Fort Wilderness campground, over the water bridge, and past the shoe tree. We rode it recently to go over there to see a few things at the campground.

What a great,day to spend on the grounds. Hubby and me rented a boat many years ago from I think the contemporary. When we were at River country and discovery island on the same trip we seen goofy water skiing in between the island and the shoe tree. Thank you for the memories Adam.

A great free thing to do is to ride all the friendship boats at the resorts and other things like the skyliner and, of course, monorail. Of course, it isn't a private ride, but still fun.

That was a family tradition of mine when I was growing up to rent a pontoon boat every time we went to Disney. But at that time it was rented from WDW Village (Disney Springs). Thanks for triggering some happy memories that I had of my past. ~~ I too enjoy Florida more when the sun is behind the clouds most of the time. Those are my favorite days. Keeps the temp down and you don’t sweat. Perfect!

I have never done the pontoons there but we have rented the little “Aqualarks” speed boats (great fun!) and a long time ago a small sail boat.

The fireworks cruise is on the same boat you rented. We did it a few months ago with some friends and it was TOTALLY worth it! Comes with snacks, drinks and the captain will give you fun facts as you go through different areas. The other boat you passed is the Grand One Yacht, and it’s super $$$ to rent.

The cabin is in the old Marshmallow Marsh section of Fort Wilderness, no longer accessable. In the early 80s they had a program where you rode in canoes from the Meadow Trading Post to that area while the guides sang old Americana songs and told jokes. You roasted marshmallows by the cabin and watched the Electrical Water Pageant and maybe fireworks. The nature trail through the woods by Bay Lake was there too.
