Thanks! I am glad that it was helpful. I remember thinking I wish I would have known more about the cred pago and other little things about renting before moving so I'm happy that I can pass this information on

I'm an American that's been living in Brazil for almost a year and the rental process is absolutely a huge pain lol. Compared to how things work in America, property owners here in Brazil put all of the costs on the renter even though you don't own the place. There are also so many taxes and fees imposed on renters here. Rent is still dirt cheap overall compared to what you pay in the US, but I feel bad for Brazilians who have to deal with all the fees on their lower incomes (relative to the dollar). I'm a content creator in Curitba and it would be great to come see Florianopolis soon!

That cool I just found out your Chanel because I’m looking for information about residency in Brazil for my husband! We are married for 10 years living in America 🇺🇸 but I’m from manaus too! That so funny 😆

Thank you guys so much to give the idea of finding a Airbnb instead of renting an apartment which sounds really very complicated and scary.

nice video. my wife and i are in the same position of wanting to rent. as i come from the financial sector of corporate america, i would much rather use the cred pago and count that as part of my monthly expense rather than have 2-3x rent handcuffed for a whole year that i could either have invested or use for other immediate expenses. your experience of needing to know the contract better and securing a price for future exit repairs, like the painting, was good info also. btw, thats not Formica, looks more like particle board, very susceptible to water damage. Formica is a very strong/durable laminate usually used for countertops.

I am happy I found your channel. I have been thinking about the Florianopolis area a lot. I have not found many people covering it. Florianopolis and Curitiba perks my interests a lot. I heard it is much safer in those areas. I never had any problems in other cities when I traveled with my ex, but you can't ignore the safety stats either.

That is the main reason we moved here. That and the health care. But if you are looking in this area I would also suggest looking off island as well. A lot of the cities in the area have the same security and health care but cost a fraction of what Florianopolis does. We are currently looking in the Laguna/Tubarao area

@@fahlingfamily I will check them out thanks. I spent a lot of time around Brasilia, Goiania, and Anapolis. Growing up near the beach....I prefer being on the coast. Your part of the country seems to be the safest. I will check out those areas. Thank you. For me...I am looking at Brasil and Italy (where my family is originally from). I am very favorable towards Brasil bc I spent time there and the people are very friendly and the food is amazing also.

we’re planning to move to near Balneário Camboriú and we’re debating whether to save first to buy a house cash or rent first and this video has made me absolutely never want to rent lol this sounds so stressful!!

Haha yeah I think it depends alot on whether you go with the calcao or credi pago. With the calcao it works more like the US w/ the security deposit and what not. Just have to watch out for the shady realtor/landlord

Renting in countries like Brazil you can might as well add 10-20% to your rental costs it sounds like to budget properly. What neighborhood are you in? Looking to move to Floripa myself. Are you staying in Floripa? You find it on OLX or Vivareal?
@fahlingfamily
@fahlingfamily Жыл бұрын
If you use credpago then yes, 10 percent is added every month and then you have to factor in repairs (like anywhere else). We are in Ingleses Norte on the northern end of the island. We found our current rental on VivaReal but we are currently searching for a new rental and OLX has way more options.

Im thinking of moving to Brazil. Do you suggest Airbnb or rentals?
@fahlingfamily
@fahlingfamily 10 ай бұрын
I would browse both. I know a lot of people were able to get pretty good deals on airbnb and if you don't have a place set in stone i would definitely do airbnb because the rental contracts in Brazil are minimum 12 month a lot of the time. You could also look for whatsapp and facebook groups for foreigners in the particular area you are moving because people are always looking for roomates and/or renting out spaces in their home.

Greetings New Happy Family !! I just wanna write books and play violão and be at peace. I would be happy with a small inexpensive “kit” in an “imperfect” neighborhood. I’m not a snob, I’ve lived in rough places all over this planet: I don’t require being in the southern cone. Could you offer any numbers for me to dream about ?
