Gracias for this important reminder. I have the same feelings as a dual citizen who moved to Mexico from the US. There's many privilegeds that comes with being US-born and things we need to be mindful of as immigrants. At the same time, these are our homelands and we notice these issues because we care for our ancestral lands. I see a real issue with wyte foreigners (many from US/Europe) paying high rent like it's nothing and increasing the cost of living for locals... and seeing how it really impacted mi familia who live here in cdmx 😔 It's a great message that we can all need to hear. Like yall said- We gotta be respectful to those who always called this city home.

Thank you for watching and commenting. We do think of ourselves as immigrants to this city, we try to be especially careful about our economic choices and the impact they might have on others. At the same time, we feel a strong connection to Mexicans and they have made us feel welcome in their home.

¡No mames! So random I came across you guys! I'm just gonna try to be brief and say I'd love to chat with y'all. Great vids, great editing, and great vibes. ¡Bueno vibres! Good luck with your channel! Mi Espanol es muy malo pero yo intentar, per dia... escuchar y aprendar. ....poco a poco. And I'm from socal, but I live here in CDMX 4 years y MX por 5 anos! (Deberia sabre mas Espanol 😂) I'm 58, live with my partner who is 36 Venesulan, in del valle norte. I grew up in the punk era of the 80s and have always stayed connect passionately to music. (Btw I've never tried to get to know anyone from a KZbin channel 😅). And I don't really know or have any gringo friends here 😹. But you guys are different and I think we'd get along well, who knows, we definitely have some common interests. I've done a little music promotion/ AnR, well more like informal advisor about the biz and music arrangements ect. I'm independent but I've some connections to LA. My original plan was to explore and learn the scene here and look for opportunities. I have friends in jazz here, I've had several projects I could have invested in but first experience was a lesson learned so I decided I needed to learn more spend less....I have some artists I've helped in the past like Omar Marquez from Puebla he's a romantic singer songwriter, on KZbin, but that was before COVID, last several months I've been working with a couple of bands and little by little seeing possible potential. Its a tuff biz. I am considering creating an independent label here. Still researching but the idea is Chilangos y Mexican rock, bilingual, AND a goal of at least 50%+ female artists and management, production, engineering, promotion management etc. I'm a guy (and gay) but I'm a feminist and my experience with music biz ( really all biz) has always been at least 80% male. But I know you know there's so much more female talent. I have an event in December that I've been invited to help invest and I'm open to it but I wish there were more female acts in the bill. So far just one, so I'm gonna try to negotiate with them. If you are interested at all in just chatting up, I'd like your perspective, please email me I think I could learn allot from you guys. And maybe we could learn from each other... No presion, I won't take it personally if you'd rather pass. Again I never reached out like this feels really weird. Ok cuidado. John Lujan

it’s so sad and enraging to me. mis papas y yo no hemos podido regresar a mexico like many others, pero with a passport from an imperialist county not only can you move, but also shift in terrible ways how people in that space live. colonialismo moderno 😡 ps all that to say y’all being mindful of your privilege and impact is so important. my rage isn’t directed at y’all, more people without roots in mexico / who don’t care

You can try not to impact the market as much as you may worry that you may, but it's hard for me to imagine how two people can fight or change economic policies and migration trends.

All we can realistically do is minimize our own impact.
