This is another visit I made to the last open Blockbuster Video in Bend Oregon, I filmed this last year during the Halloween season and originally had it posted on my main channel, but I'm trying to transfer more movie content to this channel :)

@@josephbennett3482”pop-up stores” aren't really a return for BB, though. They're temporary stores that are open for a limited time - normally to test new products or capitalize on a new fad, trend, or event. And with them being a pop-up store temporary, you wouldn't really be able to _rent_ anything.

Nope. Every Friday evening around 6:00 we'd go to Blockbuster. My parents would rent a new release movie, my younger sister would rent some kind of cartoon or kids movie, and I'd rent a video game. We'd usually stop for Pizza Hut or McDonalds on the way home for dinner, because mom didn't like to cook on Friday night. Those were the days man. I'd give anything to go back to the late 80's-early 90's just for one weekend.

This is so nostalgic seeing a working Blockbuster. My grandmother who God rest her soul has passed away used to take me to rent movies anytime I asked. Games and movies my friends would always want to stay the night and we would rent a stack and be busy all weekend. So awesome. I can see how just this store could be a destination vacation. Hope this thing is around forever.

Honestly with Best Buy, Target and probably Walmart soon enough stopping their sales of physical media. Small shops like Blockbuster could do well nowadays. I need a store to pick up my physical media from. Especially if I want a special or limited edition release. Hopefully one day a shop will pop up again.

Younger generations may never know the magic of driving to the local family video/blockbuster or even smaller business movie store to browse the walls of endless selections of movies and video games. The browsing was half the experience tbh and when everything went to online streaming, we lost an experience. Just like the Polaroid, movie stores should make a comeback.
