Reolink Go PT | 3 Month Review

My thoughts about the Reolink Go PT cameras after having them for over 3 months. I’ll discuss a few things about the cameras and optional accessories for poor connectivity or service depending on your location.

Thanks for the comment. I just put mine back in service at a new place last week and had to get new SIM cards since I quit paying the service for a while. After questions from several I’ll be planning an update video to address questions I’ve received over various things.

Thank you. HuntingFarmer channel also used freedom pop for his SIM card choice. For my area I was a little worried even though freedom pop uses the AT&T network. While I’m paying a little more for service I am still enjoying what I see and getting a better bang for my buck than using traditional cell service cameras for my own purpose. I’ll be doing an update soon. Work has been crazy but I plan on answering a few questions that I received for the cameras soon. Thank you for the comment and happy hunting. Rather happy spying. Lol.

I have this camera too but I'm quite disappointed of it.. I use it for agriculture surveillance and it does not record all of the time.. even though I applied maximum sensitivity on the PIR sensor

You can download over 1080p over cellular just change the video you are playing back to 1080p and download I have done it

I hope it works well for you as it has for me. After having my cameras off since June I have finally got them back up on a new property of ours. This was due to loosing lease rights where we hunted for 35 years. They are now going back into service on a new property and looking forward to what we see. One thing did surprise me however. Having been turned off for many months, when I turned them back on they retained over 65% of its battery life. I was not expecting that for sure.

About how many feet is that green feeder from the camera

The cameras were anywhere between 30 to 40 feet. They all were mounted in trees that were not as stiff so there were times that that camera would trigger due to wind movement where they were mounted. I’d you don’t want false triggers from motion sensing mount on something a tree or something stable that will not have the tendency to move.

I wonder if you can set it up to take timelapse videos, for outdoor projects progress. Where did you buy the camo skin for the camera? Or did it come in that camo color? It seems it can only be bought in white.

Thanks for the question. It is actually Camo tape that I purchased off Amazon. I had to do a lot of form cutting to cover the camera but the tape works well enough and peels off easy as well. I chose not paint it as it voids the warranty which I have had to use only once out of the four I own. Hope this helps.

@@FelixRusu I searched my orders but am not finding it. I originally got it from amazon. It was a vinyl mossy oak finish, easy to peel off and it did not peel off from rain or ice conditions. Was easy to pull off with no residue as well. I’ll keep looking through my stuff because I still have a roll left and will get that to you if I find it.

I’m not sure I understand your question correctly. The SIM cards are removable but I forget if they are push button eject or if you will need a pair of tweezers to remove them. I too will be replacing the sims on all 4 cameras in the very near future now that I just put my cameras back in activity on our new property. I’m looking to do another video to answer many questions that have been asked very soon now that things have become less busy.

I don’t have near as much deer activity as you do up in northeast Texas but I do have plenty of hogs and been watching a few of these reviews already on this camera. Which prepaid cell service does it call for?

I’m pretty sure you can use any pre-paid nano sim. I chose Tmobile. Others vary. As for my deer activity, it’s slowing down and seeing more feral hogs and the occasional coyote and lots of racoons. Pretty much feed all year around currently pushing protein now before changing back to corn mid year. Hope to be back down their and do so interactive camera footage and shooting come April with turkey seeing coming up but will have to wait and see since RL work seems to have me super busy. @@dirtroadtradition4701 I think Amazon did mention T-Mobile but had a few reviews saying different. My deer stayed more nocturnal this year for some reason. Maybe it could be the bobcat family that calls my place home or the large pack of hogs? Thanks for the quick response/info and good luck this fall!

If your able to night hunt try setting up in an area with a scan light and a game call with Cotten tail or similar to draw cat in. Keep the lights shinned in its eyes to keep from seeing you amd don’t let off. I have a few cats myself I’ve been after. Got one with a pistol last year.

@@dirtroadtradition4701 I wished that KZbin would let you drop pictures in the chat. I shot the biggest bobcat I’ve ever seen and went viral in my area. People I didn’t even know where asking to look at and even had the game warden drop by to look and of course check my license. It was a 55lb Tom. I thought it was Mtn lion the first I saw it. I don’t do much night hunting on my property for respect to the elderly neighbors I have in the area but when I do I let them know I’m going to be out in the woods.

@@dirtroadtradition4701 so I bought the cameras but I cannot find a decent prepaid plan. The T mobile store is want to charge me $25+ a month for both cameras. Is there a way to get a prepaid $10 a month sim like most trail cameras and how and where do I find it?

I have this new Reolink Go Plus and I got a 2GB plan from T-Mobile. It works great but I cannot find a way within the camera app to determine how much data I am using. I don't want to go over my 2GB so I would hope that there is a way to track it as I go. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Youll have to setup online access to your account in order to see your data usage. However I’m sure I have never gone over and if you do, you’ll not have access to the device until your month cycles over. Or at least I would assume that. And there were 3 of us access the camera constantly to see footage. Hope this helps.

I thought I might need to use the cloud too but I hesitated setting that up because then I'd being using data for every single clip that uploads to the cloud rather that just looking at the ones that are important. They have finally updated the app so we have thumbnail images for oyr clips! This a huge advatange for saving data. Maybe there is a way to track my data through T-mobile.

That is a very good question. That is something that would probably need to be addressed with the manufacture by submitting an email. I would assume as long as you are able to to acquire a sim card for service within your area, it would work. please address this with the manufacture to see if there are any export restrictions etc…

Thanks for the question. I, personally chose T-Mobile prepaid. I wished I had addressed this better in my original review video. T-mobile, not Metro by T-Mobile which is different, has a 10 dollar per month 2 gig voice/data plan flat fee. I did have to pay an initial activation fee which was something like 22 dollars and every month I run to T-Mobile paying 10 bucks per line for all 4 SIM cards I have. How did you get video clips? Also I’m having problems setting up my email. It’s so frustrating. An in dept video on email and video retrieval would help so much. Can’t find a video anywhere

I will be more than happy to do that. I planned on another overview answering some pst questions so I should have that out in a week or so. But to answer your question, when you are in play back mode and select a clip to watch, in the upper right corner you will see an arrow pointing down with a tray under it. Once you click that you will see another screen pop up with a circle in middle. Press that and it initiated the download. Hope that helps. Also, that’s where it is on the mobile app. I don’t use the pc version and haven’t downloaded it for Mac yet.

According to Reolink the batteries will last according to the following. Standby mode= 1 month, normal usage=1-4 weeks, continuous live stream=10 hours and continuous playback=20 hours. Of course under cloudy conditions usage of the solar panel may not charge the camera which I’ve experienced however you can under the setting option of the camera area able to see if the camera is charging or not which is also a nice feature.

Thank you for the question. The way that I had to set up my plans, I was never able to get access online to my prepaid accounts. I am looking to transfer all of them over to a hunting buddy of mine who isn’t associated with T-mobile so we can fix access and payment issues to make it easier. However in answer to a portion of your question I have not even hit my cap limit in any month on any of the cameras. I too would be interested to know how much is being used with the amount of traffic I have and the constant accessing and live streaming I have been doing. There is no phone number to get in touch with anyone. All support is done through email collaboration. As for my experience, their response time was reasonable as we communicated back and for through email exchange. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the comment. Yes I used Camo stick tape and did a lot of cutting and trimming to cover the white areas. The only reason I chose to do that in the beginning was to conceal the camera to see if there were unwanted persons trespassing or friends doing things they know should not be doing. At the moment I only have 2 of 4 covered in Camo tape but I will probably move cameras again and cover conceal them now that some of our guests know.
