Great job trouble shooting and suggesting some fixes. I found that a sledge hammer does pretty well on the real hard to figure out ones! LOL. Nice job on your crafty fixes too. Cool video, Dave. Have a great day.

I had this very same problem. It was the plug on the solar panel. I got a larger panel like you show on amazon and it had a micro usb. Works Great now! I think it is also important to run the cable from the panel so that it has a "Drip Leg". A U shaped portion that will let rain water drip off and not follow the cable to the plug...

I've had a couple of these, love them. One at my hunting cabin experienced very cold temperatures this winter. It usually starts working after things warm up. But it didn't. 5.5 hour drive and watching your video, I hooked up a portable lithium battery where the Solar panel connects. Camera came on, battery started charging. After about 20% charged. Hooked up Solar panel. Battery is charging, solar is working. I think cameras, Battery BMS shuts battery down to protect it in cold temperatures. Takes a little fussing around to get it going again. Thanks for your video.

Does the CamoJojo panel keep the battery full or does it stop charging once the camera gets a full battery like a power bank. I tried the large SPYPOINT panel that has a usb port and plugged that in . It charges the camera to 100% but then stops so eventually the battery begins to drain. Once I go back to the camera unhook and rebook the cable it begins charging again. The SPYPOINT panel has a 15mah internal battery like the CamoJojo so I was hoping it would work as a backup? Any thoughts ? Thanks in advance

Thank you for this HF. In my experience, the USB C to Micro USB adapters (which allow Reolink's solar panel 2 to be connected to their older cams fitted with micro USB sockets) are EXTREMELY unreliable. One has carefully to shave off some of the plastic hooding so as to make a solid connection. I have experienced this countless times with these connectors. It is almost NEVER a problem with the solar panel itself. Even the slightest movement in the crappy connector can cut off power to the cam. Reolink persistently denies there's a problem with them - just as they demand prodigious amounts of time-consuming "evidence" in the manner of a Sherlock Holmes investigation before they will honour their warranty.

Thank you great help. My main problem is lack of sun light at my pig trap so 8 may need a bigger panel but for now i have put on sleep mode during the day while no pigs are about and hopefully that will help charging while limited sun light while its winter here in nz. Ive had the camera a year and caught about 80 pigs using it so its had a bit of use.I have noticed the camera is not holding charge do you know if i can get replacement batteries?

Hi Dave, what do you think about connecting two solar panels in parallel using a USB-C splitter? I believe this could potentially reduce charging time during short periods of sunlight.

I’ve had my Reolink now for four months. I’m noticing the charge is hanging around 97% instead of staying at 100% like it used to and the sun out all day and it not needing to run because it’s in the backyard and nothing usually is moving around. What can be causing this?

this is too funny, at the end of the deer season last year i had this same problem, the racoons chewed mine all up, i tried to "fix" it. i cut the wire on the solar panel and splice in a new micro usb tip but that didnt work for me, i was able to get a knock off solar panel that "knock on wood" is holding strong

Hello every 1. I have a charging issue of Reolink Argus PT when power cable of micro USB connected the Orange and Green lights blink alternatively continously. I checked the charging that is fine when connected with base of another working reolink argus PT. Any idea how to fix it I suppose its the response from the base board nit allowing the charging. Is there any jumper settings on the base pcb board to fix. Thanks

Maybe a deep cycle lead acid battery can handle the cold better but shorter long term life span

That would probably work better and have more capacity 👍

G450 here - is not charging at all. Tried different USB chargers, over multiple days, just battery goes down; the charger apparently does supply power, as if I just (being like on 18%) don't plug it in or just use the solar panel, the camera doesn't even finish starting up - just a red light next to the lens, which switches off after a while. With the charger plugged in, it does start and connect, but it does not charge.

Lithium ion batteries don't have too many charge cycles before they fail (can't keep a charge). If this camera is several years old the batteries are most likely bad.

Good information. I hope that manufacturers will stop using the mini and mico usb connectors and go to the much tougher Type "C" usb connectors. I have more than 1 device here at home that has failed because of a mu=ini usb. 👍👍

I have also started using a "Solar Charger, Power Bank, 42800mAh Portable Charger Power Bank External Battery" to charge my cameras where the sun doesn't hit my solar panel. Works great but the battery will not charge up by itself again after that charge is complete . And I have to hit the charging bottom every time camera battery needs to be charge, and then I have to retrieve the battery to charge it up and return to hook up....and like we all know leaves my scent.
