Just wondering what qualities draw you to grow a particular Pelargonium? Do you continue to purchase new cultivars or mainly stay with what you have? I think Alphonsa would be feminine form! She is beautiful!

Thanks Jane. I like all the various types of pelargonium but in general I prefer plants that are stronger growing eg, I don’t generally grow miniature zonals. I’m always on the lookout for new varieties that I’ve not grown before and I’m relatively privileged in knowing a wide variety of growers and nurserymen to call on.

It's not as warm over in south Wales! When you move your standards outside, how do you protect them from wind please David? I've had some quite major chunks split off the crowns of standard ivy leaves in the past so any tips would be appreciated.

Hi Patrick, I haven’t put any standards outside yet but when I do they go up against the house or side fence to give them a decent bit of protection. I also tie the stems onto screws put in the house and fence. I did some videos last year showing them outside. Yes ivy’s are a real problem as they are so brittle so they will need some protection of some sort. Again, tying against some kind of framing would probably help.
