Clearly the woman conducting the interview has handlers who feel extremely threatened by Phillips's bid for the nomination. It's great to see on the first day of his campaign that he can already stand up to a thorough examination and has considerate answers to the tough questions. MSNBC started this interview with an agenda to weaken him; the irony is that we are instead left with a refreshing reminder of what a strong and articulate politician actually looks like.

I had the privilege of meeting Congressman Phillips on a flight from Vietnam earlier this year. He was coming home from having visited the site of his father's death during the war. Their citizens have medical insurance from the government. They have paid family leave and so much more that Americans don't have. My friend lives in London she was able to stay home the first year of her child's life with pay. I had to go back to work after 6 weeks of having my daughter, one of the hardest things I ever did. America's politicians are greedy and they are led by greed on both sides. It's time the American people stop fighting each other and start holding every last politician accountable. If you're not working for the people why do we need you.

Many of our problems are results of the huge wealth gap. Wealth inequality has reached ridiculous levels. The middle class is no longer. Non-union workers, many that were "essential" during Covid, are at ridiculously low wages. Homeless population is growing exponentially and no one doing anything about it. My commtment to voting for Joe Biden unless there is a viable democratic alternative is based largely on who the republicans are putting forward as their most likely candidate. Aside from his 4 indictments, 97 counts, 2 impeachments, Donald Trump has managed to destroy trust in practically every institution and norm that I value in our country. If there are alternative facts that you wish to share, I would be happy to examine them.

When the host asked him why is he running and gave the example of three "ranking" politicians who don't think he should run, representative Phillips should have given her the straight answer: who cares what three politicians think or say, it's the 80% of people who want a different democratic candidate for president who matter. Thank you for this interview. I don't think many people have taken some time to actually *listen* to Dean Phillips yet. So many of the political pundits (including your round table) seem to be acting like its just sooo absurd that he has a legitimate shot to really catch on with voters in the coming weeks/months. I HAVE listened intently and he ticks off all the boxes for me so far. He makes sense, he's smart, seems quite competent, and a sincere human (among other things). Hey, and he's 54 with 5 years experience in Congress, etc etc.. Perhaps don't be so dismissive. Listen to the likes of James Carviille, Bill Maher and A LOT of other Democratic voters right now who agree : At 81 Biden can not go another 4 years as President, nor should he. If the democrats were using the rules the Republicans are using in their primary, I don’t think either Dean Phillips or Marianne Williamson would have a problem qualifying. I also think RFK Jr would still be running as a democrat if there was a chance at debates and and a fair primary. I take your point on foreign investment. It seems that ”we” want our foreign investments to be US military bases (I think we have around 800 of those.).
