Rep Fitness FB-5000 with Wide Pad Review:

At $169.00 this bench is more than competitively priced, especially if you can go pick it up. Personally I think it meets or beats the Rogue Options Thompson Fat Pad included. REP Fitness has a real winner with this bench. As far as standard flat benches I haven't used anything better, some just as good, but at nearly double the price.

Have the same exact bench and I love it. Only complaint I have is on of the rubber feet on the front was warped, so my bench is not perfectly level.

These type of benches are so handy , even if you have various benches (FID, INCLINE, SEATED, ECT) you will love your 3 post fatty pad bench. Good deal you got there

Looks solid. I want to avoid any wobble. To prevent rust, I'd prob brush the frame with a couple coats of polyurethane. I have a 90's model Cybex Adjustable bench that I wouldn't trade for anything. Often, I wish I had another bench. A flat bench would be fine. I'm interested in the thick pad as well.

thank you. do you think you'd like wide better in a fid version too or just for flat benching? I've heard some say they like wide for flat benching only and the extra girth seems to be more noticeable with getting in the way at angles.

Sennheiser Pro Audio ME 2-II with the Rode Wireless go for this one, however I usually use the Sennheiser XSW wireless system when recording other people, it also sounds great, and no worries, I love talking gear, Gym gear is fun, but I'd spend as much if not more talking video/audio gear.

Great review! I’m really itching to get a bench with a fat pad from Rogue, Rep, Bells or Titan. Called a few local gyms and they don’t have any to try. Are your shoulders pretty wide? Mine are 18 inches across my sternum/blades, so I’m not sure if a fat pad will be too wide.

I've never had a problem with the width, and my Wife likes it too. She is less that half my size so that gives you a pretty wide spectrum of width. So I think it'll work for you no problem.

Rep Fitness just advised me that their pad is now 3" thick...no longer 4". Can you look into this and report?

@@AverageDadReviewsFitness they gave me a couple of more updates, and stayed that they, in fact, have made the change to a 3" thickness, and that they will change their videos as I suggested. They also stated that they made a design enhancement change to the footing of the bench, stating rubber feet now. I guess that they had plastic footing pieces? I have not yet been able to buy their FB-5050 bench or the Rogue Monster Bench, due to the obvious supply issues, so I'm curious to know what Rep is doing with these design changes, and what you think about the thinner 3" bench now. Thanks for getting back to me, and keep up the great videos!

Does the Matte Black finish match Rogue's black powder coat? Like the spotter arms

It's super close. So like Titan's finish is glossy, but Reps is more what you'd expect out of a proper powder coat. If I set it next to my Rogue Yoke, I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference.

I've got someone who lifts in my garage that's smaller and they don't mind the wide pad at all. Not sure if you'd notice the benefit of the width, but the thickness for sure.

I've used it for them, it's pretty stable and works well. I've think the most I've used is 245#, so above that not. If you have a wall, or upright to set the back against it's even better.

I've used the rogue utility bench before and it felt like i was bench pressing on the floor because of the width and rock solid surface. Do you think this bench would allow my shoulders to move even though it is the same width?

My old gym used the Rogue utility bench and this is much better. I would call it soft by any means, but the extra width and depth have been great for my shoulders. It is very close to the Thompson Fat pad in my experience.
