Yes. HK was indeed a soveign state. And yes by soveign, it has a lot of diplomats and Lords that directly link to the UK parliament. After the 1997.... It created an actual treaty under the UN... And that the basic law was created which is unique and modern. Also, the PRC was created and then they changed their internal structures to the point that, this current situation has happened.

Every weekend, 1 millijon (out of 7 million) go to mainland China (mainly Shenzhen) to enjoy their holidays. The HongKong-Zhuhai bridge are jammed by cars going from HK to the Great Bay Area. Unhappy are those separatists. Brits should come to HK to see instead of taking this chance for their political benefits.

Raising awareness is fine, but since, as you said, they don't claim representation, it would be advisable for them to state categorically that they are only there to raise awareness and nothing else. People's republic of China, Republic of China and Mongolia respectively became independent from the Manchu Qing Dynasty. Hong Kong had already separated from the Manchu Qing Dynasty much more earlier in 1841. Hong Kong people never established people's republic of China or the republic of China. HK is not part of them. Hong Kong should have been independent as other British former colonies like US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Malaysia, Singapore etc.

The sentencings are way too short and too lenient for all defendants. An appeal should be lodged to review and increase the sentencings. As a matter of interest, what are the terms of the sentencings for all those January 6th rioters in Capital Hill ?
