I buy little clear plastic tubes full of around 12 dinosaurs in 25 mm scale from my local discount shop. 12 figures for just €2 is a bargain, and leaves me with LOTS of raptors to add to my growing Snake Men army from Frostgrave to use as cavalry/flank attackers :-) They're gaudily painted, but a quick re-paint makes them look awesome. Love your videos on re-painting these figures. Please keep it up, as they inspire me more every time I see one :-D

Nice one, smart move to create a dino army! Thanks for watching.

@@Paepercuts It just seemed apt that a Snake Men army would have some form of reptile cavalry/support for their allied forces. They make a real mess out of enemy cavalry/infantry units, and so far I'm happy with how they look once they're re-painted, as they make my growing army look so cool :-D

Beautifully done! Also, I'm a little surprised you didn't narrate this one very much. I like hearing you talk about your process. It's both relaxing and I pay better attention while watching.

amazing job as always! :) i noticed you're using vallejo clear varnishes, how do you use 'em? thinning ratio, psi? thanks!
@Paepercuts4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I usually thin them 2 parts varnish to 1 part distilled water, sometimes 3-1. PSI will be around 20-25 i think, but pressure you just have to judge, it also depends on needle/ nozzle size. If it sprays evenly it's fine. Cheers.

This is great. How much water do you add to the glazing medium when mixing with inks and paint? Ive found the liquitex glaze medium very thick and difficult to thin. I'm used to using Vallejo glaze medium, which i assume is the same thing but with more water. thank you for the video!
@Paepercuts4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I add about 2 drops of glaze medium to 1 water, then i test it on paper to see if it's translucent enough. I started using thicker filter washes for my dino skins, because a lot of them have relatively smooth skin so washes with less surface tension don't stick very well. It depends a bit on the model, but for regular glazing on miniatures i would definitely make it thinner. Cheers.

Lovely video as always Mr Cuts. I do wonder though, in some scenes you have gloves on and some you don't... Is this task based? I know some painters who don't wear any gloves at all, is there any reason you do?
@Paepercuts4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Well to be honest i wear them because i film closeup often, and since my hands are pretty pale it messes with my white balance and focus sometimes ( I know i should get out of the house more :p ) Turned into a bit of a habit to wear them i'm not afraid to get my hands dirty or anything haha. Cheers.

Very nice video as always! Can you perhaps point me to a shop for these wonderful figures? I live in Scandinavia, so something EU-based would be great, but I understand if it's not possible. I've only been able to find these models on the American Amazaon, which can quickly turn pricy with VAT and all that jazz.
@Paepercuts4 жыл бұрын
Hey and thanks! I bought mine through Ebay, some brands i haven't seen at EU retailers yet, usually the models come from China ( I-Toy, W-Dragon, Nanmu ) If you're looking for Papo, Rebor or Safari there are plenty of EU suppliers such as Urzeitshop in Germany or this shop in NL: www.diermodel.nl/c-4851029/dinosaurussen/ Good luck!

Hi I've always loved your work and I wanted to give you some tips about identifying anatomically accurate models for your builds, specifically with the dinosaur models. I don't know if you're aiming for accuracy or if you already know some of these facts, but I thought I might try to help anyway. I noticed that the Dilophosaurus model you're using has it's wrists pronated incorrectly. It should look like this > thepaintpaddock.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/figure-2.png?w=764 This is the case with all theropods. Also, most raptors, ornithomimids as well as many other dinosaur groups were covered in feathers. This feature can be hard to find in dinosaur models. So I would recommend this website here > store.safariltd.com/search?type=article%2Cpage%2Cproduct&q=dinosaurs* They're models are pretty accurate for the most part. I hope this helps!
@Paepercuts4 жыл бұрын
Nice one! Most of the models i used so far are based on the JP movies, and probably not accurate at all. I didn't really aim for accuracy although these little dino facts always interest me, so thanks for that! I've picked up some feathered Deinonychus recently i believe those come a bit closer to the real thing, i'll use them in a future video. I remember having a toy Triceratops with rows of sharp teeth when i grew up, interesting how quick these things change haha. Cheers!
