Good evening Tom, thank you. FYI, stucco walls last hundreds of years in some instances thousands, plastic siding between 15 to 30 if installed properly then the sun warps them and changes the color. Hey Kirk. You've been generous with your sharing and responding to questions. Thank you. I have a question. I am a woodworker who recently retired and decided to design a whimsical birdhouse. There is a lot of info on plastering doll houses but none on coating an exterior miniature made from exterior grade plywood (ACX). It's a little to small for wire mesh so I covered it in nylon concrete mesh seam tape. I have white portland cement, fine sand and liquid acrylic. Do you think that will work and hold up for a few years. It's been a complicated build (multi-level with a ton of bump outs and roof lines). I was hoping a single coat since I dont want it too thick or too heavy. Thoughts? Thanx paul. (PS: I am a KZbin Creator as well my specialty is wood finishing with oils or polyurethane. Currently around 2M views).

Good morning Paul, if it were me, and I do have a mailbox like the one you're describing.😉 I'd coat the top with excellent caulking already tinted and trowel it smooth, or if you had some Poly bond by LaHabra, that would also work, as the Polybond is an adhesive cementitious bonding agent used to attach styrofoam to stucco walls. PolyBond is not sold at HD or lowes but instead only plastering yards. Mix a small amount of the fine sanded Poly Bond, slake the re-mix, and spread over the top. One bag would do about 20 roofs to the birdhouses. Neither of these methods needs fiberglass mesh. Thus you achieve your objective with fewer efforts.😏 Our unique plastering Tip: all subscribers or anyone who stumbles on our channel with a question, type it into our Stucco/Plastering channel, and like magic, a video will appear to explain how it's done. This feature is miles ahead of any plastering forum. 🥳 Kirk & Jason Giordano Plastering

@@StuccoPlastering Hey Kirk. Can't find Polybond in my area. I did buy Weld Crete based on an earlier video you made and I do have a HUGE bag of White Portland and fine sand. I just finished watching your 2015 video on color coating. That's kinda what I want a thin coat over plywood and I already have the mesh firmly attacked to the plywood. Can I use what I have and can you recommend a mix recipe for a 1/8th to 1/4 inch coat? Am I thinking right here? Thanx paul

@StuccoPlastering9 жыл бұрын
Hi Gil Velazquez, easy peasy lemon squeezy, 100 is a white base while 200 is a grey base, usually, They have the different color bases as there are at least 30 colors, I believe home depot sells only a few of the colors, try your nearest Westside Building Material yard for the complete line of coloring. HI Kirk, I want to get my house sandblasted and then re-stucco. my house was build in 1939 and is need of work. A contractor who gave me an estimate said he could just power wash and put an adhesivsive bond and then add stucco. Is this a good application?

Good evening Irish guy, because I or no one could achieve the finish with the basecoat, I used a finish coat material for the texture to match what they had on the existing walls. This Finish coat is called La Habr finish coat, it comes in a grey base or white base, the color didn not matter as it was to be painted. Hi. Really am inspired by your instructional videos. Have a question. Have a 50 year old home, that has a heavy orange peel type stucco over the exterior. The house sits on top of a cement foundation, that's about 12 to 18" thick. The foundation has a horizontal crack. Hairline to 1" thick, all along the exterior perimeter of the house. Its about 2 to 3" above the soil line. I'd like to fill it with something. What would you recommend? Thanks!

My buddy Tony has a house on the corner but talking sidewalk, then retaining wall. His wall got hit so many times he had someone install 10ft 4" steel pipe, filled with rebar & concrete. 20 years now, the piped have been hit many times but no more damage. .. .if it happens again, you have an idea..

Good Evening Thomas, are you referring to the home at the bottom of the hill from Carson street down to Tompkins in Oakland? I've repaired it twice in the last 35 years. The hollow steel pole filled with concrete is necessary, plus they placed stop signs on every street as that is at the bottom of a steep hill. FYI, that's a famous street to the forest where many get drunk and high. Yes, guilty too as charged. No place for a poor braking system. Peace, love and happiness to all. Hey Kirk bro, just curious . How much does stucco cost in california ? (Square Foot)
@StuccoPlastering3 жыл бұрын
Howdy Ernesto Gonzales, In the Oakland area, about 75 to 100 dollars a Squar-yard go across the Bay Bridge into San Fransisco they charge around 150 to 200 a square yard. 🤔 What does this fact mean to me? 😉 Absolutely nothing, zilch, nada.🤷♂️ As I'm not selling carpet from a shop, I have never come across the same job, ever, there are always differences, such as say this one, It's high up in the Oakland hills, and murder on my truck, the work is in a dangerous place, Hell, my brother Luuuu can ket squished by another reckless drive, then I'd have to stop what I was doing and thank the driver.😀 FYI, I can look at any home and guess the yardage with my time in and be close by about 20 yards, Again what does this mean to me? I then know how much to calculate for materials, that's all.🍻 I bid on jobs based on my eyeball theory; I know how long each project will take me. Thus I bid my plasterers and hod carriers time and materials and think, how much do I want to make on this repair. Or how much are my 35 plus years of application time and material knowledge worth, with a lifetime warranty?🧗🏼♂️ Hope this helps brother, all quality tradesmen should know the value of their time, combined with ethics and morals for guarantees and great workmanship. As long as I have been doing this, we have always left a job cleaner than we found it. Cheers, my young friend.🕺🏻 Our unique plastering Tip: all subscribers or anyone who stumbles on our channel with a question, type it into our Stucco/Plastering channel, and like magic, a video will appear to explain how it's done. As usual, great to see the pride and care you take with your work! You’re only as good as your last job after all, so always make every job your best, if I wouldn’t have it at my own house I certainly wouldn’t be leaving it at anyone else’s! Going the extra mile pays dividends!!! Haha and yes, I’m English, I say rendering if it’s an outdoor cement based product, indoor gypsums etc I say Plastering. I call myself a plasterer haha over here you’re not really a plasterer unless you can do the lot, a good many now are just board skimmers, ask them to float and skim and they’re lost 😁😜 Do you use K-rend or Sto-rend ever? I personally really rate the K-Rend highly when it’s applied properly, and try to use it wherever possible over sand and cement finishes. Just wondering what your opinions were on it, also, we tend to use plastic beads a lot more over here now for outdoor stuff, what are your thoughts on them? Cheers! Live long and Plaster 💪

Howdy Dangerous Dave Dude me fellow plasterer, the two plasters K-rend and Sto-rend, I haven't tried as they are sold in the UK. I have tried every plaster sold here and can't tell much of a difference between most plasters. I usually buy plasters for the set times and purposes engineered for. As far as the plastic beads we have them here too but most of us just but the galvanized metal. Live long and plaster teaching plastering to apprentice's or DIY homeowners
