You didn't show how you removed the lever buttons which is quite difficult and that's why I'm here.

You basically need to pull with all your strength in a straight line... The piece is most likely glued and then slid in..

This is not quite correct. There are also 2 screws top and bottom, similar to a rivet, which have to come out(with difficulty).
