Likes Safety Pin. Shear pin will break if excessive load occurs in pump side or misalignment, and protects coupling bolts and motor from damaging. Sure, motor has OCR Protection. Normally, only one metal shear pin can be seen in coupling. In some type, couplings (pump and motor sides) are joined with Teflon sticks or Rubber sticks without metal bolts. In this types, these rubber or Teflon sticks behave not only as shear pins, also flexible joint. Careful, these non metallic pins can harden in hot environment and can easily break due to ageing. 😊
