Repair rusted exhaust flange muffler gasket with rotted broken studs

Just a quick vid on trucks and tips to repairing an exhaust flange/coupler and replacing the gasket. Between the catalytic converter and muffler. Extracting or replacing exhaust flange studs/bolts. This was on a Chevy blazer I think 2000 model year 4.3L V6 4x4

Great video, quick tip for anyone watching remove your exhaust off of the hangers close to where your working and the exhaust will drop down minimum a few inches. Once the hanger is off you use either a ratchet strap of bungie cords to hold the exhaust up high enough to not put stress on other gaskets and or flex pipe. 1 Inch can sometimes make a job so much easier, it is very important to not just let the exhaust hang down off the hangers as it will most likely damage other gaskets.

Chop off both ends, measure outside diameter, get that size from parts store and 2 exhaust clamps, install?

Mine where rhe muffler connects to the flange broke off so my resonator pipe is still bleeding to the muffler flange. Muffler is good but the 5 inch pipe that exits the muffler looks solid. Wish I could upload pics as this has happened to me 3x I. 6 years I kept buying a new muffler. Need another brand to rely on so this doesn't happen again. 2004 Land Rover Discovery

I used a cutoff wheel to remove the flange bolts connecting the cat to the intermediate type. Unfortunately I got a little to aggressive with the cut off wheel and remove some of the flange material. Has anyone compensated for the uneven mounting of the flanges by installing two gaskets as extra filler material. Is this recommended? Any potential problems in the future?

The replacement gasket looked a lot thinner than the rusted one that was shown near the start of the video. What is the thickness of the gasket? Does it matter?
