I think you'll find that at 3:59 both the hold and the assist coil in the piggy-back pair are energized at the same time. Both energized will pull up the first solenoid valve. Once the radiant sensor opens the main valve will open and the burner will lite. This provides an essential safety feature such that if power is interrupted the entire ignition sequence must restart thereby not providing a build up of gas in the drum while the radiant sensor closes, the ignitor re-heats, and radiant sensor re-heats again.
@tscheide
@tscheide 10 ай бұрын
@jimbarron8688 I have a dryer where the igniter glows. But the igniter never shuts off. Are we saying that the sequence is such that the flame sensor gets triggered by the igniter even though there is no flame yet?? The gas only starts flowing once the flame sensor is open? Most manuals suggest to test the flame sensor by checking continuity. But isn’t it more important to test that the flame sensor opens up at the right temperature?

Your videos have been so helpful! I've already replaced a broken igniter and thermal cutoff. Still no flame so I need to test the cycling thermostat and flame sensor. I'm hoping either of those will fix it because I don't feel comfortable messing with anything gas related.

Never mess with anything involving Gas Only have a qualified gas technician fix the Gas Valve or Solenoid Coils
@condor5635
@condor5635 2 жыл бұрын
@@stephensnell1379 - the solenoid coils are not really gas related and they are super easy to replace. Two screws removed and the plate comes right off. Slide them off the metal columns, replace with new ones and done. Nothing in this process exposes you to anything gas related. Saying they are gas related is akin to saying I don’t want to disconnect the wire harness from the gas valve because it’s gas related. I changed mine yesterday and it solved my problem of the burner being intermittent. The classic coil(s) going bad and hard to diagnose but easy to fix for

Here the burner was shown under the drum. Is this normal? Growing up in an NYC apartment my building's laundry room had dryers where if you bent down you could see the fire in a hole through the top of the perforated drum. I even remember how on the low setting the flame looked weaker

Interesting! So I have a GE dryer and I’m noticing that there’s a leak coming from the dryer. We got somebody to deep clean the vents, but there’s still a leak going on. Do you know if there’s an issue with the dryer. Im trying to find the solution, but many are saying that it’s because it needs cleaning. But I don’t think that’s the issue now. Please feel free to let me know your thoughts and recommendations.

I am going to replace the high limit thermostat because on my GE dryer the original owner said it's burning up and sure enough there was all the feathers from pillows and a down jacket It eventually stopped heating so I was given it and the thermal fuse did not blow so It was the coils. But the down jacket feathers were in the burner so I think that the high limit thermostat is stuck closed and needs to be replaced. Model DBSR453GB2WW

I have heard that on igniters, they can be working just perfectly as far as the flame, but will cause the flame to go out after initial light after 10 seconds, the flame will then come back on for 6 seconds after 50 seconds, then another 50 seconds or 1 minute and the flame will come on for 5 or 6 seconds and and then rinse repeat, it continues that pattern over and over. Somehow these ignitors (if after-market replacement type) will fail with their resistance but still light the flame no problem. It sends a signal to the secondary gas valve and the flame goes out , and over and over. Now, I've not tried this (buying a guenuine whirlpool replacement igniter for my Maytag mgdb200vq0 gas dryer), but I have the same exact symptom as above and not sure what to do? I did resistance checks on all the components in this video (or most of them) and they all check out. Maybe not with the exact resistance values that are listed on the document that came with the dryer, but i did replace the coils twice and same thing is happening. I think i also replaced the flame sensor (hard to get to)... so yea, VERY perplexing. Any ideas? Should i get a new ignitor?

@dabneyoffermein595 3 жыл бұрын
@@lk98765 turned out to be the dad-gum ignitor. If they are just a hair off in resistance, it's a no-win situation. Make sure to get a decent one, and you'll be good to go. I turned gray over this one and could have saved myself some $$ too...... If only I would have known sooner, lol. Good luck to you and lef me know if it fixes it. Get an OEM from a reputable source.
@kennikuhlmann-clark9860

@@dabneyoffermein595 .... I may have an issue where the igniter glows like it should (at least apparently), but gas never ignites... I can smell gas after the igniter cools down, but it doesn't burn.... Wonder if somehow the gas isn't being pulled past the igniter (clog or some obstruction), or if the igniter isn't getting quite hot enough anymore, or if there's an issue where the gas comes out of the gas valve.... I changed the gas valve coils, and this problem persists... It's important to know that there was (prior to this happening) a clogged vent pipe; the vent pipe was cleaned out and the air does blow out of the vent grate now, opening the louvers on it.

@reconx86
@reconx86 8 жыл бұрын
***** Gas and electric perform about the same. But here's is some problems that you only get with gas, the smell of gas getting in your clothes, and gas-leaks which may cause explosions. Gas dryers simply have more points of failure. As for maintenance you may have to check for leaks every once in a while, which can occur in different places, for different reasons.

Can someone help? I have a 2015 whirlpool Gas Dryer. The voltage on the dryer is 110v but the socket is 220v. I have a converter regulator to convert 220 to 110. The problem: My maid plugged the dryer in 220v (God only knows why she felt the need to pull it out of the 110v and put in 220v - we think she was charging her cell hehehe ) ANYWAYS - the dryer ran for a few seconds and stopped - nothing works. Is the dryer toast? or is there a fail safe to protect it? what should I inspect?
