Nice video, easy and clear explanation about this mechanism.

Hi, thank you for your comments! please remember there are other factors affecting the hardness. Always remember the original position so that you could go back if adjustment not working well. have a good day!

Thank you, my machine started clicking constantly lately. Would turning this screw clockwise help ?

I guess that When the temperature inside the cylinder is too cold(harder ice cream) or due to the mix left in cylinder for too long (over beaten), ice may for on the inside surface of the cylinder, when the beater rotate, you may hear the ice scrapping sound. this sound may disappear by reducing ice cream hardness or after the machine is washed and filled with new mix. Have a good day

Very informative. I have a 323 VAN/P machine that gives a loud vibrating sound only when it is in freezing mode. I remove the beater shat to rule that out and t still vibrates. In clean mode it's very smooth and no vibration, only in freeze mode. Thanks for you assistance

hi, not sure about your model. It could be over-beaten mix and hardness was set to be too high so that caused ice formed on the internal surface of the cylinder, to make noises and vibration? Good luck!

@@RepairDIY I found the problem, the Hard O Matic springs are worn out which was caused the two bronze plates to skip. I add some washes on all of the springs and it worked as it should. That's' just a temporary fix until get the replacement springs

I have had problems with my Carpigiani Van machine. When I turn the screw, clockwise to make the ice cream harder, it slows down to the point of almost stopping. If I turn it anti-clockwise , the ice cream is too soft. What could cause this?
@RepairDIY7 ай бұрын
Hi, hard to point the cause. for example, if the mix stays in cylinder for too long (beaten too much), the ice cream could be soft. Good luck and have a nice coming summer!

waw thank you so much but what makes the flaming wheel moveback i wonder how !
@RepairDIY7 жыл бұрын
That is the design, called Hard-O-Matic. The flying wheel is driven by the beater motor, the beater inside the freezing cylinder is drive by the beater drive socket. Between the drive socket and the flying wheel there are two slipping plates (spring-loaded). When the ice cream getting harder, there is more resistance to turn the beater, then the slipping plates will separate so that the flying wheel will move rearward. When ice cream is ready, the flying wheel should have moved back enough to operate the rear micro-switch to turn the cooling system off. cheers

hi thank you so much for the video, we have a ice-cream truck, the carpigiani machine we have is about 15-20 years old. by any chance that you know what model is that or where can we download the manual book? many thanks.

Carpigiani has been producing ice cream machine for many many years. Not all manuals of all models you can found online, but there should be some manuals for some older models. Even you may not find the manual for your machine, but rthey could be good references as many models working in similar ways. good luck!

hi, thank you so much for your instruction. I have a problem about the flying wheel's movment. In the vedio you said it has about quarter-inch operating distance. But in my case, it can only move a few millimeters which makes so hard to adjust the ice cream's thickness, the machine wil either stop too early or never stop. Do you have any idea about how to fix this problem or do you have any related vedio? I really appreciate your help.

Hi, there are many factors affecting the hardness of ice cream, you can try to rectify other issues instead of adjusting this screw only. For example you should clean the condenser grills using a brush and vacuum cleaner; you should make sure there is enough space around your ice cream machine; you should make sure there is enough mix inside the cylinder; you should make sure the ice cream mix in the cylinder not over beaten (for example after long time no sale period?). In summary, adjusting the hardness screw is only one way to deal with hardness problem, and it is only effective when all other possible reasons have been looked after. Good luck!

thank you so much for your advice,though my problem is not about the hardness of ice cream, it is about the movement of flying wheel. after replacing the drive socket 2 years ago, the flying wheel could be only pushed back about one millimeter. I think it could be something wrong with the 'two slipping plates (spring-loaded)' you mentioned before. I'm wondering if I can fix or replace this part?

if you search for carpigiani ice cream machine manuals, you should be able to find some manuals with diagrams showing the internal structure of the sliding/slipping discs. I have never opened that up. There should be permanent lubrication there for the sidling discs. As the springs are strong, the flying wheel is barely move when I tried to push by hands. Good luck!
