CAT was my mother’s maiden name initials. She was born in 43. They were all in paper sleeves and for some reason, my dad took them all out and threw the sleeves away. I’m glad you’ll be able to enjoy them

Darn you! I work in a DJ shop, repairing all kinds of dodgy electronics, including the occasional jukebox. Thanks to your videos, whenever I'm checking capacitors, I'm now unable to say the word "microfarad" without doing the silly voice out loud. I suspect the boss thinks I've gone a bit strange.

Not too many country music artists write there own songs anymore. Hank Williams was a exception he wrote his own music 🎵🎶🎶. Yeah David Allen Coe is a great country music singer. I got drunk the day my mom got out of prison , 😂😂😂😂😂 lol. The add on lyrics was great he made a perfect country music song .
@LyonsArcade Жыл бұрын
Yeah unfortunately the singer songwriters that built country have largely been forced out! Now a lot of songs will have like 7 writers, it's crazy.

Tantalum cap shorts I find interesting. I work on pro videotape gear; and I know from stories some of those 12v tantalum caps can go with quite a bang and take other parts with them. It's funny because some people have to do this work for a while before you get an explosion, I haven't seen a tantalum explosion yet in over 25 years... hmmm
@LyonsArcade Жыл бұрын
It depends on how many amps are going through it I guess or what it's connected to.... in these jukeboxes I never see them exploded (except for that one transistor!).... but on a Gorf arcade game there is one on the sound amp that always explodes!

Q2 looks like a transistor based voltage regulator and way it is connected to circuit it is no surprise that LED died when load is shorted. Nice that it has old school T12 fluorescent tubes too._

I think that Hank’s ‘Move It On Over’ might have been the first rock n’ roll song…. Not sure exactly hen it’s was recorded but before 1953 for sure. ‘Why Baby Why’ is a George Jones song as far as I’m aware. You gotta get some 45s of Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers if you wanna fill up the jukebox with great rockabilly tunes … and who wouldn’t want that??

They are putting 26v through that LED? Did they make beefier LEDs back in the 80s to handle that.. I would have assumed there would be a resistor in line to clamp the voltage down.
@m.k.8158 Жыл бұрын
Actually, the voltage is not a big issue-as long as the current is limited to a low enough value, the LED will generally hold up.

Hi Ron, I really enjoy the troubleshooting / repair videos with schematics. Since I like to learn as much as possible. At Christmas one of the items I got was the vampire solder sucker from your Amazon link. It does work really well. I do have one issue and was hoping you can help. Sometimes the solder is sticking out of the silicon tube and I have to put the iron in the cradle and remove the loose solder slowing me down. Have you had that problem and if so how did you fix it. Thanks Rick

Where can I find just the transformer. Mine is not putting out 24V on pin 6 blue wire before the fuse.
@LyonsArcade2 ай бұрын
It's hard to find one, do you mean the entire power supply box or just the transformer itself? Usually the transformers don't fail, but they may not read the voltage if something is still plugged into the output and it's dragging it down to zero

Although I Love 45's there is a probleme with the records themselves. Some Jukebox company released specialy pressed records that had 2 hit songs on them. Example you could have YMCA- Village People on one side and Heart of Glass Blondi on the other side wich was giving 2 hits by records. Regular 45's have only one hit on one side and an obscure title on the other. If ever I get the chance to buy a Jukebox (wich is my dream) I will opt for a CD one. I could create from real 45's a buch of CD's with only hits compilations. There's a way to create cards for those CD and recrate the feeling of 45's by recording them as they are and with the needle drop a well.
@LyonsArcade6 ай бұрын
If the band was good enough, both sides were a hit. Almost every Beatles 45 had two hits on it.... the Beach Boys, even Led Zeppelin

I think it may be possible, in swap of the turntable motor, use a 25W incandescent lamp as a pull down load. Light on/light off would make an obvious state change. Also, I would be VERY careful on the Sambo records. They pulled all of those books from schools due race inequality concerns.

This is why I can't own a juke box. I am not a fan of 50's music at all. I love music but I can't do 50s music. You can't be picky when you need 45s for the jukebox. I go to a lot of car shows and they are always playing that horrible music. When you look around there may be a 57 chevy arounnd, but nothing else from the 50's. I seem to always get put where it is the loudest. dip de dip de dip de baw mawma maw be dang e dang UCKKK.. The guy in the studio must have laughed while going to the bank.
