I recently started watching watch repair videos and my husband produced his great grandfathers Waltham silver pocket watch for me to look at. It is missing the hour hand and we had thought it was seized as what we thought was the winder wouldn't move lol, key wind. I used a surgical needle holder to turn the key wind and it ran for 5 to 10 seconds and stopped, it would run again if I tilted it but wouldn't run more than 10 seconds at a time. It was sitting next to me while I was watching this video and halfway through the video I noticed a ticking noise, it is running! I would still love to service it but I need to get some tools and learn more. I just thought it was funny that it started working spontaneously during this particular video. Anyway I'm really enjoying your videos as I find them very relaxing and satisfying so thankyou for producing them. Stay safe.

If you wanted to be a doctor and go to medical school you should specialize in surgery, you have the hands of a surgeon.

Any videos or advice on a Waltham selfwinding that has a very wobbly rotor? And when I say wobbly, I mean it wobbles so much it contacts the balance wheel during normal wear. On the watch I have, marked B-251K, the rotor doesn't screw on, it is held on with a sort of clip. It is so loose it practically falls out when you remove the case back. I like the watch, but can't afford to put much money into it at all, so if there is no "quick fix" would removing the rotor and winding it with the crown be a safe option?

Damn I would love to see you do one on a vostok amphibia movement (the one without the date wheel) because mine needs servicing, it was a gift from my father, but it's just not worth the threefold price of the watch (minimum I've been quoted is $170,) and I'd like to try it myself before just chucking a new movement in it. It's got huge sentimental value but I don't make much money. What do you use as lubricant?

Hi Marco and I have been following you for a while even if with difficulty because I do not speak English .. I am Italian and I am passionate about watches and for a while I have been trying to learn how to repair them .. I have your mth watch but I have lost the spring that holds the trigger group together, so to speak at the 13.20 minute you show how it is reassembled .. where could I buy it? thank you

Hi Mark, thanks for another great video. If I may, what cleaner are you using to soak the balance cock and pivot jewels in?
@williamyaughn76174 жыл бұрын
You omitted the removal of the mainspring - the sizing of the main spring and the replacement of the mainspring into the barrel, This is a trick process, and it would be very helpful if you did a video (unless you have one already) as a service to your viewers. Thanks

The keyless works on this watch has such a bizarre design. I really have to wonder how Waltham landed on that design.

Do you have a video of how to repair these types of pivot holes? I have a few pocket watches im working on that the third and fourth wheel pivot holes are excessively worn. Thanks!

Why didn't you let the spring fly out when you took off that cover plate there's a lot of fun when you're on your hands and knees with a magnet looking all over the room for countless hours for the spring why take all the fun out of it what a nightmare
