Today we attempt a low-buck rebuild the bowl ejector cylinder from the Wabco 101F. As you will see, this cylinders end cap was cracked and re-welded multiple times! This marks part IV in the series. Subscribe for the future Wabco videos!

What's happening is the ram is bottoming out on the cylinder heel breaking the weld ,To stop that you'll need to weld some husky 3/4" Angles to the floor or sides of the bowl stopping the Skirt before it hits the cylinder max instant fix.

I have rebuilt several cylinders. Never thought about putting the eye in a vice and turn the nut. Might have been easier if you could have pushed down on the bar instead of putting up. Yep, a pick in the finger hurts!

maybe I needed a bigger bar! didn’t want to break my vise though

Good job, intelligent approach. Sometimes difficult without larger equipment. Hard seals can be warmed up in boiling water to install. Overall excellent job! Thanks

Jeep stuff is "eghh" for me but I love the Wabco and case dozer videos. I catch myself yelling at the TV, you got smoke give her a whiff of summer air and it'll run! But then.. I have been a diesel mechanic for 30 years

That "wear ring" on the piston is worn out, should be replaced. That is why you see the grooves worn in the cylinder, wear ring keeps clearance there.

Locknut: Use loctite. It was probably loctite on it thats why it was really har to get it off. I usually heat them when they are hard to get of. If its loctite then they will loosen up at a moderate heat.

Great minds think alike! Definitely spot on with the heat but I wanted to try and preserve the nylon in the nut as best I could.

If you weld up the bowl stops for the sliding floor that cylinder will last for ever.

@@dieseJL I discovered it quite by accident. I repaired my cylinder 4 times. I mean I gouged it out and welded it each time. Finally out of desperation I welded up the stops. Since I purchased it new I knew it wasn't a problem with the cylinder. I just couldn't put my finger on it. At that time the scraper had about 12,000 hours on it. I never had another problem with it and sold it with 22,000 hours on it. I wish I had kept it. The one I have now isn't as nice and I bought it in Minnesota.
