A construction company I used to work for ran these (IT18s and IT28s ) of that make and time they were all loud like that. It’s normal for those pumps to whine like an old ally cat. With that said they very rarely caused issues as long as you kept oil mad grease in them or didn’t fall in the ditch (their brakes where never the best even new) when dumping rock in the rock box or moving the rock box to the ditch or where the excavator could reach it. We tried to keep them a safe distance from the ditches but they did excellent jobs getting around job sites and moving items from a staging point that where not close to where the job was and thus not accessible by truck even the old military 6x6 they had wouldn’t go places these would while hauling concrete pipes, culverts, sewer box’s or manholes.

I seen in an area not far from where I live (also in Indiana, West of you in Terre Haute) very similar situation, The owner put in a lot of rebar, poured concrete and mixed smaller rip rap in it, then put larger over it when it dried, that was over ten years ago and it's never eroded back after that, and they get from 8 to 15 feet back flooding every spring.. You pour concrete a lot, so you would know how to make it work right for you... Just a thought brother, I know al to well the devastation that water can do in ditches... Be Blessed.. Loved this episode and thanks for drawing attention to that problem..

Honestly, you have the experience. I think I would have terraced that right hand side (next to the road) and packed each Terrace with rock. I would have put heavy landscaping cloth folded down under the rock. Water cuts. I bet it undercuts the rock or bounces off the other wall. Traditional OX-Bowl shape of rivers was developing.

Dissipater pad for the culvert would help a LOT. Now that you've placed rip-rap, the bank erosion will move closer to the culvert and that Utility pole.
@Crewsy3 жыл бұрын
I guess you missed the part where DP said he will clear the culvert and clean/pick up the crap later. So quick to comment negative things but don’t pay attention during the video to know otherwise. Do you really think DP is stupid and doesn’t know that or thinks that crap laying there looks okay? As the old saying goes. Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you’re an idiot than to open it and prove them right.
@74_Green3 жыл бұрын
@@Crewsy A little of defensive...Somebody needs to get outside and away from the keyboard. Been watching DP for almost 2 years. I know he goofs, I know that he knows and I also know that he reads most of the comments because we do pick up on some things he MIGHT have missed. I would not waste my time watching, let at least commenting on a video on a channel that I did NOT like and most definitely would not keep watching for almost 2 years. So get off your high-horse and, as you rightly commented, keep your mouth shut.

Old loader still looks like she got a whole lot of life left in her that's a good job and I know you're thankful that you got a company's that'll let you test and give your opinion on the way that their equipment operates and I'll have to say I was amazed at the reach on that excavator good job Mike
@NotJustaTool3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it has to do with the pricing of the job. Don't take this wrong, like you sometimes do... But removing some dirt on the opposite side of the bank, would prevent the ricochet effect during high flow. That dirt could have been used to fill the hole, that took up a lot of riprap. Yes the angle of the pipe is bad, it could be made better with an open pocket to the left, as a channel. Thanks for listening. Cheers
@Crewsy3 жыл бұрын
I guess you missed Captain Kleeman’s video where he fixed the entire length of the ditch including where the washout occurred as evidenced by the material piled on the opposite bank. Digging out that area would work during normal water flow but as DP mentioned that area floods over the road do the water flow coming out of the culvert will continue to eat away at that bank. Is the riprap a final solution? Not likely but it will certainly protect the open bank from water running off the driveway during the frequent “normal” rainfalls they get. The best solution that won’t happen would be to replace the culvert barring that redirecting it immediately out of the culvert is next best. Anytime you try to straighten a watercourse that has any amount of current you will always have to deal with the “ricochet” as you put it.
@hollandduck793 жыл бұрын

Captain Kleeman did that with the 120 and just in the driveway a bit there is a way to cross the ditch to get the other side. DP also did that when he brush hogged the ditch with the 120 last year as well. You can still see the material that Captain Kleeman pulled up onto the bank across from where DP placed the riprap.

Canny little whine from the loader, it is only the transmission working, must be a hydrostatic drive, still earning its keep !! Water will always travel in a straight line until it hits an object, then it will deviate either left or right, depending on which way has the least resistance. 85 is proving to be very useful, maybe too big for what you need in a mini but you can't complain about its reach !!! Gas cylinder was quite at home in the ditch obviously knows where it is better off, and I think the plan did come together 😁
