The Hyundai had me at the roll up door. There is just some equipment where you can't swing a door open. That was my only complaint on the DL550. The problem that I see on the tile plow is that it was built with A-36 plate. There are fatigue cracks forming and eventually it will fail. It probably would be wise to plan on building an entire new one at some point using T-1 or AR 500 steel. That plow has certainly made you the money.

Hyundai Heavy Equipment rocks! On the tile plow, your new secret weapon, the leading edges, where the plow rides up and down, I might have put a slight wedge edge (45 deg?) on both ride edges, to make sure it self cleans as it goes up and down. Again, great video, the best ones are where even though it says an hour long, like good movies, it starts, and then it's done before you know it.
@Sjanzo10 ай бұрын
57:59 no, its just geometry. If you have two feet between the plow shank and the lower pin, and two feet between lower and upper pin as well, when you pull 15 ton on the shank you push 15 ton on the upper pin and therefor pull 30 ton on the lower pin. Forces need to be in equilibrium. When they are not, your plough breaks.
@robobloxgamer52410 ай бұрын
I'm surprised the tile plow has worked as well as it has. The pressure on the plow must be tremendous when it's buried laying tile, especially when Mike is using it as a ripper, tearing up huge slabs of rock. As the weak spots are discovered and corrected, the plow just gets better and better. Eventually you'll reach the sweet spot where the "weak link" is strong enough to not break.
@bobbrinkerhoff359210 ай бұрын
That , or the weak links start having John Deere part numbers attached to them .
@warrenmichael91810 ай бұрын
Its unreal how well it works in the rock isnt it? I knew it would plow tile pretty decent but i also just "knew" it was gonna just get bent and tear apart as soon as he tried to pull it through the first decent underground rocky patch! LOL Im glad i was wrong.

I wish we had better dealer support in my area. The closest Hyundai dealer (compact only) is 240 miles away. For heavy equipment, it’s 315 miles. Our area is heavily bias…Bobcat, Caterpillar, Case, Deere, Kubota. Deere and Case are both just farm dealers that will order heavy equipment, and order parts; no repair techs. Caterpillar is the only 100% full service implement within 90 miles.

On the pin, we used 4140HT annealed for pins, as well as 1050, 1050 chrome plate, and EL50 chrome plate in certain cases, 4140 HT was our go to on pins. Excellent idea on the longer back plate to help with stress on the boot. Nice job of fabing in the improvements on the plow, you keep at it you will have to the point of the dozer being the weak link on the plow. Thanks for the update sir, really enjoyed and appreciated the video.
